No really, if devs went out of their way to make one subrace playble, why not make the second. It is not like they are any different visualy.
Though i guess i woud require new lines and voice acting for some occasions.

Well, i am in the begining of the 3d act, but i am pretty sure the story has nothing to do with Githzerai so far, as the dispute between Gith and Zerthimon, that had split the race in two, was before the dissapearence of Gith and the whole thing about Orpheus and Vlaakith
Anyway, my main gripe is about not been able to play as Githzerai.

larian must not have had the rights to the name or something. idk why they wouldn't even mention githzerai unless this is supposed to be some sort of retcon to the lore and orpheus brings about githzerai.

I do not think it is that, because both Gith VS Zerthimon civil war and conflict between Vlaakith and Orpheus do not seem to be mutualy exclusive.
But i concur that Opheus and his honour guard resemble Githzerai way more than Githyanki, in both temper, visual style and class. I can only imagine that Opheus had studied under Zerthimon at some point, but it is a pure speculation.

exactly, his honor guard are the stereotypical githzerai, yet lae'zel doesn't even comment on it which is disappointing. Orpheus came before Zerthimon, in actuality Zerthimon would have studied what Orpheus preached. So maybe these gith aren't even githzerai but just gith that want to kill vlaakith and reunite or something?

Ergh didn't the conflict between Vlaakith and Orpheus happen after Gith had dissapeared? At least i got such impression from the game.
While civil war between Gith and Zerthimon happened right after the victory over Illithid Empire? Over the path that their race should take, after their bloody phyrrhic victory. Or am i mixing something up?
I do remember that lore specifically say that Gith (race) had several leaders in their rebellion, but due how things turned out in the end, with civil war and Vlaakith been generally a greedy powerhungry tyrant, only few names are still known.
