The oath stuff is dumb

I wanted to kill Minthara by telling her the grove location. My plan was to then go warn the grove and set a trap for Minthara and kill her with the help of the grove as allies.

But my dumb Paladin oath counted the first stage of my plan as breaking my oath?

So Paladins are not allowed to be strategic or something?

This dumb writing.

Nah, it checks out. Deceiving is a big no for regular paladins. You'll have to be something like a dark knight or something to pull stuff like this, which is basically an anti-paladin.

The game can't see what is in your mind. If the option didn't say "Pretend to name the location to setup an ambush" then why would you expect to treat it like a "good" choice.

Agreed. I gave the Paladin a good run but they are the most boring class of the entire game. Not only that, you are restricted to boring tactics because of some daft oath. Total zhit. Barbarian, Bard, and Druid, most fun to play so far.

Paladin is basically a goody2shoes in a tin can that gets his powers from a god who most of the time says no-no to things like lying, deceiving or saying mean words. There are some serving evil gods or oath of trickery thing, but not in this game.

lol I killed half of the druids as a paladin and didn't break my oath but killing the baby owlbear did the trick

Yea vengeance pala is the best, you can get away with a lot of things. Altho I lost that oath when the parents of the child went to murder Kagha. And I was like: but it was the snake and I don't know if she ordered her snake to kill that child so I can't be certain it was her. Now I am Oathbreaker. Fine by me as well, has a nice aoe fear after all.

Just like honor irl, the oath is a self-nerf. Adds tot the flavor and tactical flavorability.

I get so many fun intimidation with my paladin too!
