Baldur is just silly British spelling. It's the same with Tor, there shouldn't be an H in his name and his hammer is named Mjølner, not Mjolnir. And yes, I actually do happen to know this stuff on account of being Norwegian.

Baldr is that Osiris guy (later known as Jesus) who got murdered by Loki who is also known as Set (later known as Satan). Baldrs gate are gates leading to Bifrost (later known as Heaven).
