Powerword Kill Range Bugged?

So i'm doing the baal trial rn where you have to kill the chanter and it says that you'll be immune to powerword kill if you are outside of 55m of them. My entire party (except for a summon) is at least 60m away (if i hover from their perspective over the chanter) yet as soon as the 5th turn hits and the chanter casts powerword kill, i instantly lose the game.
