Question about getting into Baldur's Gate at the first checkpoint.

At the South Span Checkpoint, when the guards question you and the fight ensues, I killed them instead of being arrested. During the fight I noticed that there is a way to sneak around them on the right side of the gate.

My question is, is this going to make guards in the city hostile to me eventually? I noticed none of the Fists South of the checkpoint were hostile to me, but when I walked through the checkpoint I noticed the few guards there were hostile to me (but I managed to get by without a fight). None of the ones at the next bridge were hostile to me.

I'm just wondering if I should reload a previous save and sneak around them to save myself some headache in the future.

I have the same question. How did things go? Were there any permanent repercussions?

Lol nope. This is one of the big gripes about act 3. There's no consequences. You can even yeet people off the world in the city ahead and no one cares. It's a damn shame.
