Does Magic Weapon Spell add +1 to already enhanced weapons?
So, as the title says, can you use the spell to improve weapons that are already a +1 or better?

Don't see any point in having the spell otherwise.

This is one of the more useless spells in TT. Since it is now concentration in 5E, better forget it. You cannot use another concentration spell while it is up (unless you drop it), and if you take damage, you might lose concentration.

Won't be using a spellcaster. It's in the list of War Domain spells, for if I consider multiclassing my Ranger into a few Cleric levels, so he won't be doing many concentration spells anyway.

But, what's the answer to the question?
yes. You can even check your character and weapon list where its gonna be listed as + 1 +1

But i found it compeltely usseless because its based on concentration and you lose in battle quite quikly. Only usseful if you are building cheesy paladin oneshot builds

doesnt matter if youre a spellcaster or not, every time you take damage, you make a concentration check, if it fails you have to recast the concentration spell to take effect.
i always wanted to use this item but it just doesnt seem very good. couple things that modders could do to make it good
1) make it apply to any weapon in your hand. So if you switch to your bow, still applies. if you throw a spear, still applies. that could make it better.
2) make it long rest, no concentration. this way you're basically trading a spell slot to buff a weapon (or all of them?)
3) bonus action, if its not going to be over a long rest, then make it a bonus action so that its usable in combat.

its one of those spells they were afraid to make good because a legendary weapon is +3 and only special artifact weapons have +4. So this spell could be a little too strong too fast if it wasnt kept in check. but unfortunately, unless a modder fixes it, itll be forever useless.

I understand, but I won't be doing any -other- concentration spells, was my point.

it's a low level spell that can help you overcome resistance to things like barbarian rage or blade ward which reduce nonmagical damage by 50%

This spell makes a non-magic weapon magical, therfore allowing full damage.

It's OK, but it's just a lvl 1, so it'll get less useful very quickly.

I'm not sure it matters with the correct setup. It lasts until long rest and you can cast it at lv 4 spell as a paladin (with arcane lv 4 potion) for +2 attack rolls and +2 dmg. So for the entire day if you don't want to long rest spam OR use cloud giant strength elixirs because you have dignity, your overall combat is much better ( +10% accuracy and damage is nice).

As a paladin with high charisma and, you will make pretty much all your concentration saving throws anyways with aura + other gear+bless, especially if you have lower AC allies that the AI will target instead. Bonus points if you use the 23 constitution amulet. I highly doubt anything other than prone will break my paladin's concentration. And he has nothing else worth concentrating on anyways, so it's not a big deal he's using it on such a spell.

Sure you can keep the lv 4 spell slot for a lv 4 smite, but honestly, 1 extra 1d8 vs the entire day of +2 attack & dmg seems mediocore.
