Superheated Condition
Exposure to lava has caused Grym's adamantine body to soften.
Can now be affected by certain damage types and is vulnerable to Bludgeoning damage.
Forge is going to deal zero damage because Gyrm is immune to all damage unless Superheated.
Well that's odd, because it should release lava every time you hit the wheel. Has the forge descended to the bottom level? The normal procedure is to first put your mold, and ore in the appropriate spots, hit the lever, the forge descends, you open the lava valve, use the hammer, and grym appears. Maybe because you left and came back it reset? I'm not sure. Try shooting the valve wheel with an arrow to from afar if manually hitting it does nothing.
Share a savegame from before you starting the fight.
If they tried claiming the gear before releasing the lava it can cause the game to lock up the lava after it first flows out. Only way I was able to fix it was to rush to the other end of the platform, claim the forged gear, then shoot the wheel to release the lava.
And if they truly have a bug, it is best they report it properly.

If the wheel worked first time and is stuck now, then maybe something is missing. Make sure to check all the compartments (the crucible mostly) if everything is in its place.
The instructions are like this:
- put ingredients in their respective compartments (the mold into its slot, the ore into the crucible in the middle)
- pull the lever, a hammer will slam into the crucible and the platform will lower
- position your party members on each of the four circles, one should be near the wheel
- turn the wheel, lava will pour in and a cutscene with Grym will play
- fight Grym and occasionally turn the wheel, when he loses the "superheated" status, get him into the lava ASAP
- after the fight loot Grym for his helmet (optional) and pull the lever, it will complete the forging process, you can then take whatever item it created
- optionally put another ore into the crucible, if you have more than one piece as the first one got consumed, take the mold out and put another one in its slot and repeat the process excluding the fight, you'll get another item, if you have more ore, you can craft several items.
So if the wheel can't turn, check if all ingredients are in place and then try again.
It would be preferable to load an earlier save before the Grym fight even started and follow those instructions.
