Aproval/disaproval question
so for shadowhearts romance specifically. If i talk my way out of a fight with my PC and then afterward start it with say Karlach. would shadowhearts aproval rating drop? an i guess this goes for all charecters in general

Try it and see. Typically, though, approval/disapproval happens mainly through cutscenes and conversation.

My impression is that the coding is pretty simple. You're not going to lose approval you gained for talking your way out of a fight just because you went back on that a few seconds later. Unless Shart disapproves of starting the fight in itself, you should be OK.

You shouldn't lose approval if you use the "Attack" feature, even on your own character, after you have resolved a situation via diplomacy. However, doing so also awards you with XP so you won't be getting XP from the combat, if you were hoping to double dip.

Generally speaking, as long as the companion is in your party all the time, it is incredibly easy to gain sufficient approval for the romances and the "good" paths for the companions who have branching good-or-evil storylines. Make sure you're getting in regular long rests and engaging them in conversations in camp. More than anything, all of them like the attention.

If you do see the disapproval message pop up, don't panic and feel like you must immediately reload. There are ample opportunities to accrue approval and most instances are only in increments of 1 and 2 points.

This is true.

Despite that Shadowheart and Lae'zel are opposed for a good part of the game, and often what one likes, the other will dislike, if they are just in your party they will probably both end up with a high enough approval to start a romance if you want.

The key is to make sure anyone you want approval from is in your active party. Generally the approval is very slow if they are sitting back in camp.

Unless it is Gale. He has been in camp more than anyone and has a better approval rating than Shadowheart who has been with me the whole time. We'll be out doing something and a little popup in the corner says, "Gale approves". How the heck does he even know what we're doing out in the wild? He must use a crystal ball to watch us as we are out adventuring.

You can also cheese it to avoid disapproval and still have them in your party. In convo before you select the choice they would disapprove of you can select that character and move them far enough away from where the conversation is taking place. Then you switch back to the talking character, select the option and they won't lose any approval.
Thanks everyone i think i got a better understanding of how the aproval/disaproval system works now
