Solution: How to solve stuck at 83% (not 75%)
I ran into this issue after the Patch 8 update — and I noticed that it was already pretty common before that too. The situation is usually frustrating: players often find they can't load or create any new clean gamesave. It took me half a day to figure it out.

Unlike the 75% crash, this one is more serious as it means you had imported a mod that could crash your save, you can not solve it by just reset the mod setting file. The general error message you would receive if you stuck at 83%(more than 5 mins) and force the game to shutdown by alt+f4 is "Could not create Temp as the process is been used by another process" (not exact the same word)

Here's how I fixed it:
Step 1: Backup your saves
Go to:
C:\Users\(Your Name)\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public
Copy your savegames folder to a safe place, like your desktop. Then delete the entire Larian Studios folder in AppData\Local. This step is crucial.

Step 2: Relaunch the game via Steam
You might want to turn off Steam Cloud Saves — it can cause long loading times or even make things worse. Your call, but I recommend disabling it.
Once in the main menu, make sure there's no "Resume" or "Load Game" option. If that’s the case, quit the game. A fresh Larian Studios folder will now be generated in the same location.

Step 3: Restore your saves
Copy your saved games back into the new PlayerProfiles\Public folder.
If you use BG3 Mod Manager, reinstall the mods you had before.

Step 4: Open the game again
Launch BG3 from Steam and try to load the save that was stuck at 83%.
You’ll likely get a warning that some mods are missing. Do NOT load the save yet!
Instead, go back to the main menu and open the in-game mod manager. Accept the terms, then enable the necessary mods. Return to the main menu again.

Now you can try loading your save — it may take up to 5 minutes, so be patient. If all goes well, your game should load normally.

Step 5: Save and investigate
Once it loads, save your game. But keep in mind — the 83% loading issue is usually caused by a conflicting mod. You'll need to figure out which one is responsible and remove it, or else the crash could happen again, and you'd need to repeat all these steps.

One more thing: I haven't tested this extensively, but it seems like each time you recover your save this way, a new Traveller’s Chest appears in your camp. That suggests you can probably only recover the same save three times max (assuming the limit is four chests, with one being from your original game start).

To be clear: That “attempt count” only increases if you save your game after recovering it, ignore the mod conflict, and then crash again later.
