Characters can't move anymore
I updated to patch 8 and everything went fine at first then suddenly for whatever reason I can't move anybody in my party. Can open inventory, switch between characters, and click on hotbar buttons but my characters won’t move. I'm in the dark crypt near the beginning. Camera controls work fine.

I'm on an M3 Mac running the latest OS. I have tried:

-verifying files
-reinstalling the game
-restarting my Mac
-disabling and deleting mods
-jumping
-long resting
-quick save/quick load
-opening inventory and switching between characters
-creating new profile and starting over with a new character (same result)
-Sending party to camp (they just stand there and won’t move there either).

I left-click all over the ground around each of the four characters in my party after selecting each one of them and they simply won't move.

Anybody else encountered this? Any suggestions?

to clarify, you're saying that after deleting your mods, uninstalling the game, reinstalling the game, then starting a new run---> Same exact problem?

Because that would indicate most likely a mod isn't being uninstalled. I don't know the exact steps for this, but it involves going into your files and clearing out mod strings, staging folder, and basically anything that isnt removing itself.

I deleted the entire mod folder and thus whatever was inside. After doing that the mod manager in game shows that there are no mods installed. But it didn't make a difference anyways. My characters are still standing there and clicking on the ground near any of them does nothing. If there is a interactable object nearby, like a door for example, I can right click on it to bring up a contextual menu for that object and make a selection there, like "open" for example, and the selected character will walk up to it and open it. But left clicking on the door does nothing, just like left clicking on the ground.

I have this problem, some won't move when they do move they won't pick you items, it for sure isn't mod related since I've never touched a mod. Patch 8 kinda ruined some stuff

by mod folder you mean the one in the appdata folder right?

appdata/local/Larian Studios/Baldur's gate 3

might be worth deleting the level cache folder in there too too. I remember a while ago when i had issues with a mod breaking the game, deleting that folder fixed it.

I should add that prior to patch 8 I never had a problem with the game. And when I scoured the Internet about this I discovered there have been some other people with the same problem but all of their potential solutions, some of which are some of the things listed in my original post, haven't solved the problem for me.

I just had some more bugs and frankly it was enough to put the game down, at 800+h there isn't that much more to see and I'm burned out from it, I hadn't touched it since last year and was trying to do the origins stories but It's slightly unplayable atm at least in high dificulty where UI, pathing and random bugs cause you to lose a fight.

Any idea where this is on a Mac? In the BG3 launcher support section you can open the player profile folder and the installation folder but neither of those locations containing what you are referring to.

Never mind. Found it. Didn't help though.

Oh sorry, i didn't read the fact that you are on a Mac.

Might be worth sending a message to Larian through their support page

https://larian.com/support/baldur-s-gate-3

Click on contact support at the bottom of that page.

Yeah good idea. Thanks.
You will likely have to do a full clean install and start a new game.

IDK how to do that on Mac though.

Same problem here, i can´t move after load, so I need open the inventary and remove some piece of gear and put again every time. But I cant pick itens from ground, need change caracter. to do it, pretty annoing.
Sometimes my charcters won't move after exiting dialogue, selecting a spell and cancelling fixes it.

I'm experiencing this same issue. However, after removing the MODS via both the mod manager and deleting the folder, uninstalling and reinstalling the game. The ModIO keeps reinstalling my mods. I can't select any MODs to disable them, and I have to task manager the game closed because menus won't work.

I figured it out I got my characters to move again. I deleted all the mods by moving the appropriate folder to the trash. I uninstalled the game but I also dragged the game's application to one of those appcleaner programs that identifies every associated file and send them to the trash. When I reinstalled the game it was like a brand new copy but of course all my saves were still there because of the cloud. I reinstalled most of the previous mods I have been using. And now everything is working and I can play from my last save which is great.
