Monk Gear
Hi, I'm confused. What type of armor does Monk use? Light, medium or heavy? I can see and understand what other classes use, but i'm a bit confused by the monk class on what type of armour I should buy. Im only lvl 2 btw

None. They use Clothing, same as Barbarian, Wizards, and Sorcerers.

Monks wear robes, homes. Doing the martial arts inside a tin can can be tricky.
Monk uses clothing, not armor. Like Barbarians, or most typical casters.

Monk makes up for this by having passives that give some nifty bonuses that only work if you're not wearing any armor or shields:

  • Unarmored Defence adds their Wisdom Modifier to their AC, making up for the lack of AC on clothing. You can potentially dip into Barbarian for their version of Unarmored Defence, which scales with CON instead of WIS - only the higher attribute modifier between the two will be added to your AC if you do.

  • Unarmored Movement increases your Movement Speed by 10ft, then later on upgrades to 15ft and again to 20ft.

  • Advanced Unarmored Movement (at level 9) increases your Jump distance by 20ft and makes it so Difficult Terrain doesn't slow you down.

Can you elaborate? What type of gear do I look at when I go to a vendor? Is it just called "clothing"? I have a glove thats called "Glove of power" which is "uncommon" equipped. Is this right type of armor for my class?

I played monk in my playthrough and the answer is light or none (if you have the dexterity). Eventually you will fall on The Graceful Cloth witch is great for monks. The Garb Of The Land And Sky is also nice. You wiil get them in end of Act 1 and early Act 3 respectivelly.

    Its literally called Clothing.

Its Clothing, Light, Medium, Heavy. If gear has no such tag, then it doesn't fit any category and anyone can use them.

If a piece of body equipment doesn't say on the tooltip that it's Light Armor, Medium Armor, or Heavy Armor, then it is something Monk can use.

Light is armor. It has to be Clothing. Graceful Cloth is clothing, so is Garb of the Land. None of those are Light Armor.

If it doesn't say "armour" anywhere in the description, you're good.

Wisdom is your armor, along with mage armor and dexterity. Clothes you use for their effect.

Go for light armor (no more than leather armor) til you find the The Graceful Cloth at the end of Act 1. For the remaining (gloves. boots. cloaks, rings) check what the object provide. Some are good for monks, some for others classes. There is no rule here; your play, your style.
I read your name as Reisenberg, and now I'm disappointed. :reisen:

Why would you use light armour instead of Unarmoured Defence?
