The only thing I wished Larian would add with another Patch...
Hey, I know it's tough to ask for EVEN MORE, Larian. I really know.

But please take note, maybe. I would really like one (ok, maybe several, lol) specific feature for my RGPs from you in the future:

Please enable "Interference" or "Interjection" in Dialogues from other party members

I mean, I already use the "assistance" mod that enables me to have the highest skillcheck from my party members. I don't see why I should build a variable party when I can't use my 20 charisma warlock when my 8 charisma warrior-tav has to talk, embarrising himself while Will stands beside and just shut his mouth and lives with the consequences.

I would REALLY love it, when the party window would stay in conversations in the top left edge and when someone want's to add to the talk, they get a "!" for interjection, a "?" for "this character wants to ask something / add something from their perspective".

! = Interjection
When you first meet Astarion and he tells you to look for the Intellect Devourer, Shadowheart rolls a sucessful "Insight" roll and knows, that Astarion lies.

You can act normally as Tav and use your own judgement OR you can hover over that "!" symbol with Shadowheart's head and it says:
"Shadowheart has observed something strange in this person's behaviour! She noticed, that Tav doesn't spotted this and wants to interfere...!"

When you press accept this, Shadowheart will step in and hold you back, blaming Astarion for lying and Astarion reacts like he would when you foresee his attack.

This "!" only appears when the character did a sucessful roll for the situation - this would broaden the whole game EVEN MORE... and I know that's a lot to ask. But imagine playing in co-op with your friend, they roll a dice like you, you fail while they succeed and they can interfere! How cool would it be to enjoy the story like that?!

? = Conversation interruption
You meet Nettie. She talks with you and then takes out the branch. Gale noticed that branch with a "Nature" roll. The "?" appears over his head.

"Gale noticed the branch and identified it as a potent toxin. He wonders how this herb will help the party to get a cure from the tadpole..."

Now the scene shifts to Gale, he asks Nettie and then the conversation develops from this point on.

And another way:
You are meeting Kagha. Gale has "Detect Thoughts" active. You have the talk with Kagha and the "?" appears over Gale's head. (BTW that's the reason why I do this thread hahaha)

"Gale senses an opening in Kagha's thoughts. Should he try to read her intentions?"

And now Gale makes the roll, if success he will go to Tav and tell them the results, if not, Kagha get's angry as normal.

Also, this could help while playing Co-op! Let both (or more) players have a conversation with the NPCs! Not only the "leading" character! They can choose another question or interaction and "force" a roll against the leading character; if they succeed, they can interact with the speaking person OR the leading character can just submit. A little bit like in Divinity!

What do y'all think? Sorry for the long wall of text, but it REALLY bothers me since the game came out haha
It would make the game so much more enjoyable for me when playing with my girl and also when my team-mates weren't just some puppets that just accept my decisions.

I think that
a) there's no evidence Larian reads the Steam forum, you'd be better off submitting this to them directly through the feedback form on their website, and

b)the odds of something that would require this much new voice acting for the dialog it would add at this point is probably pretty much zero, unfortunately.

Not happening. They have stated patch 8 is the last major patch and only some bug fixes patches will come from now on.

I do agree, but an entire patch for this? I don't think that would be needed, sounds like a minor/medium change.

If Larian go back on her statement and do a Patch 9 (like they did on Patch 7 and made the 8), i just hope they overhaul the evil quests, rewards, choices and consequences.

Not gonna happen from Larian, sorry.

If this can be done by modders, it might be doable with "Moonglasses". But I suspect it would be very tricky and difficult to do.

Conceptually I like the idea, and I've seen it in other CRPGs, but I'm not sure even modders could implement it.

The feature i liked the most in NWN2 Storm of Zehir.

Oh dear lords, no it wouldn't be. For it to be more than an annoyance, every single dialog tree would have to be expanded, and voiced, and new animations added.

It would in fact, in theory, be the biggest patch yet. I don't even see a gifted modding team taking it on.

Cool idea, but never ever happening.

Well, maybe we will have some more luck with integrated AI in the next games. Imagine how cool it would be when we can integrate AI that will just use the voice of the real actor and always give a different answer every playthrough - and when you could just "chat" with your team-mates while the main story is scripted like it is now

Now that's a cool thought! Here's hoping I live long enough for BG4.

edit: VA's woul def need a new contract structure, something like NCAA's NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) contract. Actors HATE the idea of AI using their voices without permission or payment. And rightly so.

I always play warlock/bard/paladin/rogue with high charisma so I dont know how you guys do it. I honestly thought they would implement this in patch 8. We have to agree it just makes sense, and I dont even play multiplayer ... and since I play warlock I dont notice it , but that may be why my subconcious picks it. Otherwise the rest is inferior and wont fit my gameplay

that is so true, my first playthrough went with "lawful evil" agreeing entirely following order to please everything related to ketheric/absolute. And at the end of it all, inevitably, you just end up giving nightsong to ketheric and he discards you, putting you in the lesser paths of all, with huge disadvantage....Basically there is no lawful evil where, you "infiltrate moontowers"as per the quest is titled ; or ; you end up subduing to ketheric or taking his place, you know? Anyway, chaotic evil has it all and lawful evil has nothing, it would only take some minor changes. Like being the owner of moonrise towers at the end;it doesnt even need followup in act 3 except maybe a summoning of moonrise tower people to help during final boss fight..

I kinda of expect AI based games to be an inevitable future.

Oh sure thing - and it's good for entertainment too. Like every technology, it needs to be used mindful, however.

Oh yeah I can imagine that. But honestly it is the future and as much as I understand the actor's feelings (or the painter, or whatever) it is what it is. For a GAME, a piece of entertainment, it is a great plus - especially in role playing games.

When the story is done by the actors, then they need to get paid for this. But I have never heard about an actor complaining when a stuntman is doing the difficult stuff or CGI is used to let them do crazy things - so this is a little bit hyperbole to act now like "we will all loose our job!"

It's just another technology. The stories need to be written, the emotions need to be expressed and the AI needs to be teached for the specific role. So, it makes sense for me when Devora Wilde is teaching the Lae'zel AI how she would act in a specific situation and that is excactly the new job for them then (after the scripted parts anyway)
they aren't going to do new animations
they literally can't afford new voice lines
and they legally can't add additional content.

all hail the modders.

Larian does not read or moderate the forum, you will have to find another way to get to them
seeker1 Apr 19 @ 8:18am
There's a Suggestions subforum on the Larian website.

But, there will be no major changes to BG3 post Patch 8, so I'd say that one would be fairly pointless.

I like this idea. If it's gonna happen, modders will have to figure out how to do it. I suspect they can't with what little tools and guidance they have available to them.
This has been requested since Early Access back in like 2020.

It's never going to happen and at this point it MUST be an engine limitation in some way. Not even modders have done this.

If it was simple enough, it'd of been done by now.
