a) there's no evidence Larian reads the Steam forum, you'd be better off submitting this to them directly through the feedback form on their website, and
b)the odds of something that would require this much new voice acting for the dialog it would add at this point is probably pretty much zero, unfortunately.
I do agree, but an entire patch for this? I don't think that would be needed, sounds like a minor/medium change.
If Larian go back on her statement and do a Patch 9 (like they did on Patch 7 and made the 8), i just hope they overhaul the evil quests, rewards, choices and consequences.
If this can be done by modders, it might be doable with "Moonglasses". But I suspect it would be very tricky and difficult to do.
Conceptually I like the idea, and I've seen it in other CRPGs, but I'm not sure even modders could implement it.
The feature i liked the most in NWN2 Storm of Zehir.
Oh dear lords, no it wouldn't be. For it to be more than an annoyance, every single dialog tree would have to be expanded, and voiced, and new animations added.
It would in fact, in theory, be the biggest patch yet. I don't even see a gifted modding team taking it on.
Cool idea, but never ever happening.
Now that's a cool thought! Here's hoping I live long enough for BG4.
edit: VA's woul def need a new contract structure, something like NCAA's NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) contract. Actors HATE the idea of AI using their voices without permission or payment. And rightly so.
that is so true, my first playthrough went with "lawful evil" agreeing entirely following order to please everything related to ketheric/absolute. And at the end of it all, inevitably, you just end up giving nightsong to ketheric and he discards you, putting you in the lesser paths of all, with huge disadvantage....Basically there is no lawful evil where, you "infiltrate moontowers"as per the quest is titled ; or ; you end up subduing to ketheric or taking his place, you know? Anyway, chaotic evil has it all and lawful evil has nothing, it would only take some minor changes. Like being the owner of moonrise towers at the end;it doesnt even need followup in act 3 except maybe a summoning of moonrise tower people to help during final boss fight..
I kinda of expect AI based games to be an inevitable future.
Oh sure thing - and it's good for entertainment too. Like every technology, it needs to be used mindful, however.
Oh yeah I can imagine that. But honestly it is the future and as much as I understand the actor's feelings (or the painter, or whatever) it is what it is. For a GAME, a piece of entertainment, it is a great plus - especially in role playing games.
When the story is done by the actors, then they need to get paid for this. But I have never heard about an actor complaining when a stuntman is doing the difficult stuff or CGI is used to let them do crazy things - so this is a little bit hyperbole to act now like "we will all loose our job!"
It's just another technology. The stories need to be written, the emotions need to be expressed and the AI needs to be teached for the specific role. So, it makes sense for me when Devora Wilde is teaching the Lae'zel AI how she would act in a specific situation and that is excactly the new job for them then (after the scripted parts anyway)
they literally can't afford new voice lines
and they legally can't add additional content.
all hail the modders.
But, there will be no major changes to BG3 post Patch 8, so I'd say that one would be fairly pointless.
I like this idea. If it's gonna happen, modders will have to figure out how to do it. I suspect they can't with what little tools and guidance they have available to them.
It's never going to happen and at this point it MUST be an engine limitation in some way. Not even modders have done this.
If it was simple enough, it'd of been done by now.
