In any case, did a file verify and it's running again.
The game has a few of these points where it simply dumps too much data into the RAM.
And yes, people here will always tell you "it's a mod issue" even if you don't use them.
And no, I don't have a solution to this (atempting a clean reinstall myself right now).
People usually lie about modded games as they already know what the answer will be for that. So usually they come up with the total genius plan of not telling people so they can keep their trashed savefile.
Resulting in people telling them to reinstall their whole system.
Which is a good thing as there are chances the trashed savefiles get lost.
no mods here ..
(a):when it's brand new, or
(b):just after a major patch when you're part way through a run. Just like, how uninstalling mods can break a save file, modifying the game officially can also do this, unless the creators have preempted with a workaround for every possibility that their scripting allows for; and I'd imagine that gets quite extensive with a game like BG3.
Freezing for short periods of time ist mostly caused by overheating an then thermal throtteling.
Or by out of memory where the system trys to get some new virtual memory.
Mostly by mods where there will be thousands of errors per second untill you update all the broken mods you ever used.
-- No one mod were installed. Never. Only game, clear. On ssd.
