For me, that's Working As Designed, as the Bladesong affects the weapon you have in hand at the start of the song.

i choose the longsword when leveling and i obtain a standard longsword. When i change my default weapon to phalar aluve my combat style change from 1h to 2h and a debuff appear

"Bladesong Locked
Status

A weapon blocks the effects of Bladesong. Until you stop carrying it, your Bladesong will not provide you with any benefits, and you will not be able to generate Bladesong charges."

I used google transalate so maybe its not the same message
I thought there was a button to switch between 1H and 2H, but apparently not... Larian should really fix this.
There's a mod that makes Phalar Aluve one-handed, hope it works with the new patch, i can't check right now:

Training in War and Song,
gain proficiency in Daggers, Longswords, Rapiers, Scimitars, Short Swords, and Sickle.

Had me really worried there for a minute.

I intend on doing 4 levels of Rogue picking up Thief Subclass
Then 8 levels of Bladesinger.

Just want the extra action economy for off hand attacks or maybe just go right into
Great Weapon mastery.
Thief has nice mobility actions that means I dont have to use expeditious retreat like I normally do. Also I like the idea of applying an oil to the weapon for better hit chance.
Also can use enchant weapon instead.
Later pick up a ring that allows using enchanting/illusion as bonus action instead of green action.
Not too sure how that all will work out though.

Always happens when changing weapon and never removed, even if i re-equip de same weapon before.

"Bladesong Impeded. Condition: Bladesinging impeded by a weapon. Until the weapon is removed, your Bladesong won't grant any befenits or let you generate Bladesong Charges."

There is an icon to switch to single hand no?
It’s the same icon that is used to turn off duel-wielding attacks, no?
So, I just got Phalar Aluve on my playthrough as a Bladesinger, and I'm holding it one-handed, no problems. Do you have any mods? They might be causing the issue.

Bladesingers should not be able to do bladesong and cast when using the sword in 2h mode, the free hand in 1h is ment for casting spells.
And yet the game has no problems letting you dual-wield a scimitar and a shadow blade.

Not that I don't love it, and the animations are awesome. But this is a weird inconsistency.

Some weapons can be held 1 or 2handed. Just pop a shield or another weapon in your offhand to get 1h back.

Yes, and my bladesinger holds Phalar Aluve, which is a versatile weapon, in one hand, as he should. But the OP's bladesinger defaults to holding it two-handed for some reason. Which wouldn't be this much of a problem if there was a toggle between 1H and 2H for versatile weapons.

only have Alfira companion mod, ill make a new try without that mod, but need to start a new game.

edit from another post: "Yes, this is a bug that hasn't been fixed from the stress test. If you use Wither to respec and remove the gifted starter weapon, Bladesong Impeded condition will be permanent. At this moment, respecing to Bladesinging is borked."

tryed a new save without mods and not respec gale after choosing bladesinger. all good until the arpy fight. during the fight all the group are using the bladesinger animations (custom death cleric, astarion and shadowheart. Need to respec all with withers to fix them, but after a while, they start again.
