The combat in BG3 is turn-based though, based on D&D 5e rules, just FYI
More than you think, i personally know at least 5 in real life that hate it.
As mentioned, the turn-based combat is very different,. The spaces you fight in are also very different, since they're often very vertical, so there's going to be a lot of climbing, jumping, and so forth. (You couldn't jump at all in DA:O and DA2, right?) Positioning is going to matter a lot more, particularly since there aren't any aggro management tools.
Second, the FR setting is a lot more high-magic than Thedas. There are more creatures, more wacky magic effects, more stuff in general.
Third, the dialogue style is much more, well, modern, than the way people talk in DA games . (Veilguard excepted.) Sort of like Vox Machina. I remember this bothering people in EA, but they all either got used to it or just left.
Mostly antiwoke crusaders, grumpy grognards and creepy edgelords who hates everything popular, all for quite subjective and flawed reasons...
The other 96% of the population gave it a positive review and many consider it a Masterpiece, enough said !
