The Game Won't Load After Patch
I have the game set to auto update because I have been waiting for this game to finish for all the years that I have been playing since pre-release. When it finally finished patching I started the game up and it loaded fine. However, because I had not been playing with mods for a long time, I decided to go turn on the aesthetic mods to remove some physical characteristics that could appear later in the game depending on choices you make. Sorry I don't want to spoil anything for anyone new. Upon turning on the mod and trying to load up the game, it shuts off before loading up leaving a message that states:

Failed to load the main menu for the current game mod . The main menu in that mod requires the level . Make sure to clear any local mods and try again . If the problem persists, please contact Larian support.

Now after receiving this message I have tried to do many things. I will list them all below.
1, Turning off the mod.
2. Removing Vortex (the mod platform)
3. Checking file integrity
4. Uninstalling the game
5. Reverting to patch 7 through Betas
6. Deleting the Baldur's Gate 3 folder in AppData
7 Deleting my entire AppData folder (Don't do this as I lost so many things I didn't want to lose and had to repair Windows afterwards)
8. Deleting my Onedrive folder where Windows 11 was keeping my %appdata% folder.

No matter what I try or how many times I delete things, anytime I install and load up the game I get the same message at 33% loading up the game. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? I am at a total loss. I am not seeing anything suggesting anything is being looked at regarding this issue and seen many people saying they are having it. I have not yet tried contacting Larian Studios as I assume they are probably fed up with all the complaints I am seeing people post about.
This is by far my favorite game to play even after playing it for so many years now. I would really like to keep playing it if possible.

I had the same problem. I could fix it, when i hunted down any vortex folder on my pc for BG3. there was a folder in the AppData and of course somewhere else. This was overkill, but it worked.
What i would do that you havent tried (I think). Not just uninstall BG3 from steam, go into the steam folder and delte the whole BG3 folder. Because, should be any mods in there, they wont get deleted when you uninstall it over Steam.
I appreciate the suggestion. I tried that and there was no change.

Turn off mods can not be enough, try move them outside the mod folder (%appdata%/local/Larian Studios/Baldur's Gate 3/Mods) as some mods in this specific game can still have unwanted effects even if disabled.

I have the same issue, is it Larian trying to get rid of the nexus?

Yesterday i could start over a new game, play the prologue and some of the beach, then my game froze and each time i am trying to start the game i have this message..

I had that same message yesterday, the only thing that solved it for me was doing the steps for a full and clean install. Did you launch the game from Vortex and get a different opening screen? like on a beach going into a cave?

The file path for the mods in the game folder should also have a Vortex folder that holds all the mods from vortex. Make sure to delete that, even after uninstalling vortex. They may still be in there. Wouldn't use vortex anyway imo way better to manually install everything. Every mod I got off the nexus I installed myself.
I followed that full and clean uninstall link above save from using the third party software and I am back working. Thanks

after a new install i got rid of vortex and the mods to use the one from the game, theey are not as good but this is at least working.
