Most of the time, when a game is updated, the mods break, especially large updates such as this. You will just have to wait for the authors to update the mods. Sometimes that can be in a few hours after release, sometimes weeks, sometimes never. Someone that no longer plays the game is unlikely to spend the time updating the mod.
Rule of thumb is to just play it vanilla and keep an eye out for the updates to mods.
It's also good practice to completely remove the game from your system and install fresh, especially if you have heavily modded the game, just a little bit of change can knock the whole thing over, ie, not getting past the main menu, or even into the main menu.
Cannot even play now.
And this was tested?
Also, did you have steam check the game files?
When i managed to load into the unmodded game, it would still freeze and become unresponsive any time i'd try to reload a save.
I will just do a clean install sometime later when hotfixes are out. [2]
"AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public"
This is also why reinstalling also doesn't fix it. There are %appdata% files that still remain and are read on game launch. Finally, even if you disable all mods properly, you are unlikely to be able to continue on a modded save; there is no guarantee all mods uninstall cleanly from a savegame.
thanks for letting me know
Hopefully a totally clean install after hotfixes will let me play again.
Adding onto this I've reinstalled this game after over a year, I had already purged my mod folder on uninstall but was still freezing up until i removed the player profiles.
