Mod Question due to patch
last i played i only used mods to change the looks of my MC. mainly a hair mod and a race mod. didnt patch yet. will my game break?

Also like to add that i hate it when games claim to be finished then add a major patch way later.

I'm looking at you skyrim...

Maybe. Not all mods will break after the patch. But you always use any mods at your own risk.

Its possible it will break. Create a new save to see rather than loading your current one that way your current one isn't tagged with the patch. If its broken, revert back to Patch 7

Yeah i set it to not auto update a night before the patch hit. Has me worried. i put a lot of time into making the tav. dont want to risk losing it. but was defo curious if it was messing with people who used race mods or any appearance mods. mainly due to im sure the creator of the mod i used wont be updating it.

I have about six or seven mods. They are mostly cosmetic and several of them add additional equipment. I haven't run into any issues on a new run with any of these mods loaded.

Through the power of AI I found out in the past hour that most cosmetic mods should still work. UI mods, mods that mess with mechanics (so potentially race and class mods), and impUI itself seem to break the game right now. Cosmetic mods such as the dice skin mods that "require" impUI should actually now work without it.

Mods that rely on 3rd party scripting will almost certainly be broken.

Mods that just replace resources may or may not be broken.

Cosmetic mods are usually the latter, but not always. A lot of the cosmetic mods I saw rely on UI mods that do rely on scripting, but a lot of them don't too.

A reasonable rule of thumb is if the cosmetic mod doesn't have any prerequisites it is probably ok. If it needs some other mod to appear in the character creator it probably isn't.

I only have cosmetic mods (clothing, armor, heads, hair, etc. ) plus party limit be gone. I had no issues at all with Patch 8. Much to my surprise. As a precaution I did back up saves. Much better than Patch 7 in that regard.
