Are you a necromancer wizard? They get bonus damage on their undead summons.
yeah im checking out necromancy wizard. i know it has undead thralls but i dont see why that would add a full d10 worth of necrotic.

This website also shows it as if its normal:
https://baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com/Animate+Dead

But i cant find any patch notes that say they added 1d10 necrotic to Animate Dead skeletons.
Maybe they always did?
Skeletons raised with the Animate Dead spell have always had this extra damage in BG3. It helps keep them somewhat relevant even at higher levels.
Hey op, what’s your build? I’m planning a 6/6 necromancer death cleric or necromancer poison draconic sorcerer.

Don’t know which will be better.

Most necromancy spells do necrotic damage and death cleric sync well, but undeads are immune to poison and despite many resistances in game, making enemies fight inside poison pools sounds good.

But this is all planned and not tested. How are you playing your necromancer?

Edit: If level 6 cleric spell make undead attacks bypass necrotic resistance, then i think it’s necro death cleric for sure, the best option, but i have my doubts.

I decided Death Cleric is what i'll make because the bonus you get from Necromancy Wizard is much less meaningful now that skeletons have a bonus d10, the extra damage from the necromancy subclass doesn't really have the same benefit (and it was always really mid anyway). Sure you get more hp on your necromancy wizard's undead, but you know what gives more hp? Cleric's with Aid and later Heroes Feast.

Some things to consider. You can, if you want to cheese, use a hireling Cleric (Or just Shadowheart if you're not using her in your party) to buff your undead with heroes feast (level 11) or AID upcast as high as you have at whatever level you're at, then park the hireling and bring in your actual character. For example if you're using Karlach, you can park karlach, grab a cleric hireling, and cast the buffs. If you do this kind of cheese, then a Necromancy Wizard would be fine because you'd still get the benefit of having a Cleric.

But I prefer to just be the Cleric myself and have the armor.
The other necromancy options aren't good, like spore druid, which is fun in theory, but weak in practice.

I think the only reason to make a Necromancy Wizard is if you want to have the versatility and offensive power of a Wizard.

Luckily, we really can do whatever we want, because we have Gale and Shadowheart. Personally i'll probably respec them both into Death and Necromancy and just have a full necromancer group. The problem is the corpses...

I don't multiclass, I find it lacking. I think you get much more utility out of a level 12 cleric, but again, since we have shadowheart and gale, it really is just up to personal preference as to what you want your Tav to do, offense (necromancy wizard) or defense (death cleric).
