Let's Talk about "The Stool", guys...
People who have been around for a long time know there is a very special stool in the Arcane Tower in the Underdark...

Does it still work as before in Patch 7 or has it been dumbed down ??

Online sources says it can give you permanent 21 Strenght if you sit on it, but I found it in sideway position and when click on "use it" that gave an "Impossible ; You cannot use that object" message. You can still get "The Club" if you do what is needed for that, but it seems to be impossible now to sit on the stool and a huge permanent stat boost that way. [/end]

The stool *never* gave you a permanent strength boost. At least not since I started playing the game around September 2023.

You got a temporary boost only when you sat on it, and that was your clue for acquiring the stool leg to use as a strength-boosting weapon.
Online sources are wrong.

You cannot get a permanent strength boost from the chair through any intended mechanic.
Well, according to Riddit, it was in the game before Patch 6, and there is a lever to access it now but I saw no lever in the room...

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

However ... here's something to read about it on the internet:

Continue reading. They say in that post no Lever is needed. The Stool is just behind the Automaton tucked in the corner. That is it.

There was never a Lever associated with this chair, even back in Early Access nor after Early Access. All they did was move the stool to be more discrete and easier to miss.
The stool was sideway in my game so I couldn't sit on it, but maybe it happened because I had a fight against the Animated Armor next to it and something moved it this way...

That is the wrong stool. Stool of Hill Giant strength no longer sits sideways.
Guys, if the stool is sideways and thus you can not sit on it. Have you considered flipping it rightside up?
If your stool comes out sideways, see a doctor.
The stool gives 21 Strength while you sit on it. That's the joke; that's why you have to break it to get any real use out of it.

If someone was getting a permanent boost at any point, then it was a bug. If you actually want a legitimate, permanent 20 Strength for free, get the Hag's Hair from Act 1 and the Potion of Everlasting Vigour from Act 2, and give both of them to a base 17 Str character.

The only stool there now which gives any benefit that lasts, is one you can break and it will produce a club, which when used by a char as a weapon, grants +19 to str.

That right there is the problem.

I tried to flip it but didn't found how to do it... I tried to throw it back on its feet but that broke it and I got the club, lol !

Would picking it up and dropping it have put it back in right position ?

You just move it like any other item. Click it and drag it to move it to a different spot and it automatically flips upright.

The others are correct when they say that the 21 strength boost only applies while seated though. As soon as you sand it goes away. Unless you know some bug to actually make it stay.

This click and drag approach also works for a certain act 2 fight when you want to protect someone. Can click and drag furniture to block the door before the fight starts. Not 100% foolproof, they will get in. But buys a little more time.

Thank you, useful to know ! Never noticed yet that you could drag furnitures instead of throwing them, I'm such a barbarian !
