How do I role play Lae'zel "the correct way"?
I really want to try and embrace the mentality of the character I'm playing and my initial thoughts about Lae'zel is she doesn't take no ♥♥♥♥ from anyone, is incredibly selfish and prefers violence over compromise.

So during conversations where violence is the option, I will pick that, even if it means an unfavourable outcome. She also seems unwilling to help others for charity and is a "survival of the fittest" kinda woman.

Is this the general theme of her personality do you think?

MrRhexx on YT and bunch of other lore videos, Laezel is typical type of soldier in love and admiration for Frogqueen
I would say that Lae'zel prefers effectiveness not violence, usually the most effective option to get what you want is by force, but not always. Lae'zel can't stand weak people or anything that can be interpreted as weakness. And I guess she is Lawful Evil according to D'n'D, she is a good soldier, very disciplined and strict.

Plus she ADORES her queen, so you'll have to sacrifice yourself if she asks, and never question authorities.
Depends entirely on your goal.

ie Orthodox hivemind soldier hoping to become a Red Dragon rider or ascend(reject Vlaakith->accept her offer when she astral projects into your camp in Act 3)& feed Lich Queen Demi-god Vlaak'ith?

or learn the truth & free the Comet Prince Orpheus?

or reject Vlaak'ith & use your new Netherbrain & Mindflayer army to destroy the Lich Queen

Let alone romance options, Lae'zel's character growth of protect military collective->protect loved ones(friends, owlbear cub, Scratch best pupper & lovers all), & unique view of resolving quests.

The key, to me, is that Lae'zel is 19. She is scared. She is alone with strangers in a strange place. She thinks she has to be tougher than tough and stronger than strong. She's been taught her whole life that any non-githyanki is not a real person, just a farm animal to be used for labor or exploited at will.

She is not stupid. She realizes pretty quickly that things are more complicated than she was taught to expect. But she's scared and doesn't know how to handle it.

She does feel like weak people are not worth anything, because she's always been taught that. However, as she comes to better understand the people and culture she is travelling with, she either starts to change herself or else doubles down and rejects them all. It all comes to a head in the creche, with the inquisitor and Vlaakith and Voss.

How you play her is up to you, but that's how I see her.

She has 2 most obvious ways.
Free Orpheus or Stay loyal to Vlakith.

Orpheus would be lawful neutral, maybe?
Vlakith lawful Evil.

Depends which of those your Lae'zel will choose, that is her main dilema.
Don't forget to call everyone you meet "istik", even if it's just in your head.

If they are particularly annoying you can call them "k'chakhi".

Just play as a brain washed, insecure, racist.
Be a teenager with over average martial skills, but keeping the "i'm invulnerable and better than anyone else" mindset.

That's Lae

to her, everyone not a gith is inferior. She just expects the other races to acknowledge this and answer her questions or follow her orders without question or delay. Anyone not serving (meaning, enslaved to) her "deity" is suspect -- at best, tolerated, but most likely a heretic. Anyone who gets in her way is an enemy. Most other gith outrank her and she will defer to them. Anyone associated with a dragon, esp red, will get a free status upgrade.

She doesn't want to be here. Faerun is primitive and to her, being here is about like being sent to check out a disturbance in the ghetto -- gross, a menial task beneath her, and something to get over and done with as efficiently as possible.

I can hardly blame her, her race is above many others. After all, they broke free from the Mind Flayers’ domination and stand guard against them for the sake of many others, even if unwillingly. I would act the same way if not worse in her shoes. I would even say that Lae'zel is quite open minded for a typical Githyanki, slowly she learns new ways and understands other people better. When I had her as my companion she started to Approve my good choices more and more, unless I act as a total weakling of course.

Lae'zel hates the weak.

Everyone who isn't Githyanki is weak.

That's a good place to start.

And if you're really pissed "kainyank" is the right way to express yourself.

As part of another discussion I labeled Githyanki "fantasy Nazis in caricature" which as a whole is an apt depiction. As bad as she first appears Lae'zel is a positive outlier among her culture, and we even have a name drop as to why she is special among Githyanki. She says that she is from Crèche K'liir among the Tiers of Selune, and this is never really put in context. Well as it turns out this one name drop explains how while she might start as an... elitist ♥♥♥♥♥ by human standards she is outstanding when compared to the average Githyanki. See Creche K'liir isn't a regular Creche It was created as a Spelljammer (a group that rides through space, and the planes in ships) port, and is in fact an asteroid among a group of asteroids called the Tiers of Selune because they follow the moon through the night sky. There are two significant boons to this Creche it is secluded from Githyanki enemies, and it has a portal into Undermountain. Undermountain is Waterdeep's massive dungeon containing all manner of monsters including Gith kinds swarn enemy Illithids. This creates a rather obvious logical guess Creche K'liir is a fast tracking location where children of promising Githyanki can be raised, and thrown headfirst into an area where they will eventually find Illithids to kill. Lae'zel is an immature prodigy among a brutal, and egotistical species.

the correct way is Devora Wilde's stream of Baldur's Gate 3 but there is no possible way for you to be as good as her at being Lae'zel so you might as well do your own thing
