Is it possible to NOT update to patch 8 on steam ?

Question in the title

I have a lot of mods and I would like to finish my run before updating to patch 8 when it will come out. I fear some won't work and ruin my save.

Possible ?

Just change your game settings in the game library on steam to update when you launch the game, which prevents steam from updating the game automatically. The other good news is most mods seem to work fine in patch 8 already, some minor things here and there

Put the updates only when you launch the game on bg3 and when you launch it be sure to disconnect from the internet while you do that (disable network before you launch it), after you are in game turn the internet back on. Did this on lots of games

but yes OP you can stop the game from updating, disable it from the game setting on steam then just launch from the exe

BG3 is drm-free.

You can create a desktop shortcut from either the bg3.exe (Vulkan) or the bg3_dx11.exe and run the game without Steam launching.

You need to set "update only when i start the game" on steam options, and then every time you want to play the game, set steam offline mode.
This way, you can keep patch 7 and not update.

I play with 70 - 80 mods too but honestly, i still suggest you restart with patch 8 as the amount of content added make it absolutely worth to restart.

You can pick Let steam decide when to update

only issue is you have to leave it untouched in the download queue it wont auto update it will just sit there waiting for you to manually start the download.

well if we consider stress test update 3 came out like a week ago, and a new round of FINAL stress test invites went out yesterday, it could be sooner than we think, but maybe I'm just being optimistic
