Getting shovel
Dragonborn Warlock. No mater what I do after entereing the lab Shovel gets stuck saying "See. Yell the truth, beefy" How do I get them as a permanent summon?

Step 1: Learn her scroll on a Wizard or Sorcerer.
Step 2: Summon her.
Step 3: Answer 1 to all of her dialogue.
Step 4: Speak to her with your Warlock, she will call you a spell ♥♥♥♥♥ and give you her summon spell.

You do not need to walk through the mirror to get this, it can trigger immediately after the first dialogue ends.

I don't know, but I recommend the Mod "Improved Shovel" in the in-game Mod Manager, that makes Shovel a lot more useful, it's almost like a 5th member of your team and he can even cast spells !

With that Mod, Shovel also levels up with his caster, really cool !

This is the thread I used a couple nights ago and got shovel permanently playing Wyll(warlock/thief multiclass) as my character.

Did you read the scroll outside of the lab and go through all of his dialog options first before going though the mirror? Then speak to shovel again inside the lab? That seems to make a difference as I recall from previous playthroughs.
I think I found the problem. I went back to camp, and reset my class to level one and that worked somehow since now Shovel would actually call me a spellshite. I guess being a chain warlock was the problem????

Looks really cool, might try it on my next run when I try some of the orgin characters as a main.

you could reclass to wizard using withers, learn it. then reclass back to whatever you want

talk to her with someone else who cannot learn the spell, then talk to again with tav, and the dialog usually corrects itself.

I tried that and it did not work. The only way I could keep the spell, was to keep the level 1 in Wizard.

right wizard learns it as a spell, talking gets it as a spell like ability.

If you wait until after you've done the Necromancy of Thay book (for the first time) to use the Shovel scroll, it'll let you get shovel if memory serves. You still have to be a caster but he's impressed that you read the book when his former master failed.

Does it mean that in that case you can have Shovel with other Spellcasters type than Wizard, Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster ? Like a Cleric, a Druid , a Warlock or a Sorcerer could get Shovel using the book ? Even a Ranger or a Paladin ?
