Should I Wait for Patch 8 Before Playing?
Is it worth waiting for patch number 8 before playing for the first time? Because of bugs, etc…

Id say so
Your adventure can take anywhere from 50 to 200 hours
You can always familiarize yourself with character creation
And decide what sub-class to use
Are you playing with mods: Yes you really want to wait
Are you playing wihtout mods? Don't wait, patch 8 will be perfectly compatible with your save.

might as well wait at this point, it's already on the 3rd update to the stress test, lots to do and fix apparently
I'm hyperfixated on another project right now.

(UE 5.5.4 has some strange things in it. Not sure what they were thinking, but I'll figure it out. Knowing me, I'll end up using those features for something completely different. Did you know that lip-sync features are great for accurate performance of musical instruments? The entire control system has to be created from scratch which is a major pain. Dunno if anyone else does it, but it's great once it's set up.)

When Patch 8 drops, I'll probably hop back into BG3 for some more playthroughs.

For bugs? No. For new content? Your choice.

I’m out for almost 1 year, so i can wait a couple of months before i play again.

Wanting to wait myself, to avoid burnout. Especially since I want to begin with new stuff.
Perhaps the most important question is whether you *need* to wait for Patch 8 to drop at this point - the responses thus far answer whether it would be best to do so. And I agree - a meaty patch like this may add some new bugs. However, those will be dealt with by Larian. If an existing, pre-Patch 8 save will still work when Patch 8 drops, then I wager a lot of folks would like to start up now.

DEFINITELY NO, DON'T WAIT ! GAME IS ALREADY A BLAST AS IT IS !

Patch 8 might clearly need a few more months to be finished and balanced, it's worth playing the game at least once before that and when the patch is out, that will make the game even more replayable for you as you will have new subclasses to experiment with...

So, been playing this game off and on for years even in early access. Though the game's gotten more stable with updates since release, the amount of times i've had saves corrupt and or whole questlines go missing because the game updated. I would wait.

This game is really good, been very proud of the devs watching this game evolve from alpha to now but nothing is as soul crushing as starting act three and finding out gortash doesn't exsist in your save or either of the temples having the BBEG in them just not render or spawn in dead. This can happen without updating however i am aware, in my experience wait for major patches before making a new character. small patches can be hit or miss and you wont notice them mess with your save, until you notice kind that sections NPC or what have you; are infact missing, unkill-able, and/or cut scenes ending suddenly without choice. this being a major patch i would wait.

When it comes to modding it's kind've all over the place definitely wait if you're using mods even UI mods. steam now forces updates for all games so it's not like you can tell it no anymore, so just be aware if you make a character now you're spinning a wheel with a djinn better hope you pass that check.

I'm also in limbo just waiting, i wanted the new sub-classes now i just want to play again sub-classes or not but i refuse to roll that wheel until i can be sure my game is clean.

yeah im waiting to for the corrupt save reason. Ive had to start over multiple times do to big updates borking something in my save. Yes their are mods that can be use to fix broken quest but that can be a pain to get right. So id rather wait myself.

Hey guys, do you know that you can Rollback to the previous version if the Patch breaks your game ??

For example, right now you can totally go back to patch 6 last version if you select the right option in the "Beta" menu of Steam...

So there is really no reason to wait for the patch to play BG3, unless you are so obssessed by the new subclasses that you can't play without them.

As your decision maker, the answer is no.

Thanks, everyone, I’ll wait then…

Lol. Good answer.

This type of post question is like asking...."what should I have for breakfast tomorrow".

It is very cute that you think you'll be doing just one playthrough.
