Is there a save editor for this game?
I want to skip all of the side quests and focus on finishing the game asap. So, I'll need to be able to give myself any important items that might be locked behind a side quest.

I couldn't find one but there might be one in development. Thanks in advance!

you want to skip most of the game?
just download the item spawner then.
( to say, i do not agree with skipping 80% of the game, just to speed to the end, where is the fun in that?)

Why even bother playing the game in this way.
Just get some linear game instead.

no just play the game
It doesn't make sense to me either, but the OP wants what they want. There's no point in telling them that they want the wrong thing.

Anyway, I'm not aware of a save editor similar to (for example) EEKeeper in the BG1/BG2 games.

Most people you would find here play D&D at least in part for the narrative. Some people here even view Hasbro/WotC as lazy, underestimating their IP's value and subsequently what they can accomplish with them possibly due to personal incompetence. There are even a few of us that remember how BG 1, and BG 2 were retconed to make future D&D storytelling easier. Wanting to skip some story especially the first time around isn't going to be a very popular view around here.

The story is ♥♥♥♥: I've got a parasitic worm that is killing me in the most hideous way possible...but I'm expected to go out of my way to rescue Grand Duke Dingleberry? Yeah, right! Completely implausible trash. As far as I'm concerned, this game is a race to find a cure...and no other consideration would/will be entertained!

I think Wyll Dingleberry would disapprove.

Then you aren't paying attention. Which again is both obvious, and won't score you many points with this crowd. As soon as you get to some people with more knowledge they basically all tell you that while they can't really help you the fact of the matter is you should have turned by now. In other words you have a benefactor who obviously wants something from you. Rushing forward under those conditions is dangerous. As you don't know your benefactor you don't know what will change their mind, or how they are keeping you safe.

What's the point of this silly lie?

You can't get that quest until you've already gone out of your way and blundered into Waukeen's Rest. You aren't sent there by Wyll or anyone else; if anything, you can learn that the captive has already been removed from the place so there's no point in going there. (I'm not sure Wyll necessarily believes that, but nothing forces you to listen to him making a mistake.)

There are no save game editors. However, there are cheat programs like WeMod (Windows only I think), but I believe they change dynamic memory states in the game, they do NOT actually EDIT your saves.

There are also all kinds of cheat mods that would do what external cheat programs would.

The Cheater's Scroll can give you any vanilla item that exists in the game, PLUS some items that are in the game files, but are otherwise inaccessible. Plus, as the name suggests, it can do other kinds of cheaty things, too, including "god mode" stuff like automatically succeeding at all dice rolls. Or character editing.

It is possible to spawn any item in the game using script extender, but you need the proper syntax and the item's UIUD. It is much quicker and easier to do it using CS.

Alas, CS can't spawn mod-generated or created items, its one flaw. Neither can any non SE-based mod I've found, either.

It looks like Cheater's Scroll only gives spells as items that you can place in your hotbar. I just need to make sure that the game doesn't cheat me out of the stuff that I paid for.
