I would recommend not using this on your first run though (if this is your first), so you can experience BG3 the way it was meant to be played.
Nexus or the in game mod hub.
"Party" size if we mean fully controllable companions or hirelings ... changing that requires a mod to lift the normal cap of 4.
Yes, Party Limit Adjuster (PLA) at mod.io will do this, and can be gotten from in-game mod manager.
As noted, there are situations where it will force you to trim your party size back down to 4, particularly when LRing or getting on the Grymforge boat. Trust me when I say, listen to it when it says to trim your party down to 4, it's doing so for your own good, LOL.
I personally use it to make parties of 6, which I find are the most manageable once you lift the cap.
#1 "Adjustable Party Limit", I think you can find it in the mod manager in the 'in game menu of BG3' You will acquire a skill that allows you to increase or decrease your party size at will. Long rest wont work unless you have the basic party of 4.
I am running around with 9 right now; once at camp I just talk to my people say 'wait here at camp' and once I have just 4 I do a long rest and before I leave I re talk to them and have them join me
#2 "Custom Companions Lite" This I found on NexusMods I believe, follow the instructions to install it, and it was pretty easy for me! You are given a wand thats in your inventory cast it and you can create/customize your entire party from scratch! So if you want to play BG3 without any of the OG Companions but you want a 'Basic Cleric' or a 'Basic Fighter' or even a 'Basic Wizard' this mod is what you want. Just know that if you normally spend 6hrs on Character Creation and you want 6+ people in your party expect 40hrs just to build your party. And this allows you to have 6+ (using above mod #1) right there on Natiloid (beginning)
Anyways I've had 8 on Act 1 and now I'm having a 9th on Act 2; no issues aside from telling each party member to wait for me while I long rest and re talk to them to have them rejoin!
Also I read sometimes taking 'that boat' in Act 1, best to have only 4 people before you board the boat
