Am I missing something with Barb thrower (karlach)
I have played Karlak an open hand monk before and it was great so thought I would try barb thrower since everyone seems to think its op. I'm lvl 4. I frenzy for rage with a bonus action but then I have no bonus action for the throw. I have TB and speced as all the guides recommend but it just seems pathetically weak. You have to skip your entire 1st turn to get rage?

You can still throw with the normal throw action. The Enraged Throw from Frenzy is just a bonus.

It mostly pops off when you start throwing enemies at other enemies or off cliffs. Or when you get one of several powerful throwing weapons.

You still have action for the throw. There's not much point of raging for a one turn fight anyway. On the second turn you have a bonus throw. With the returning pike and the ring it is really strong. Not sure what you are missing.

only really the boss fights go more than a couple of turns. So Monk is good for every encounter and barb thrower is only good for boss fights?

you rage, then you throw...and bonus attack throw again, that's it. level 5 is where it's at not 4

What? It sounds like you might just not like Barbarians, my guy. Any Barbarian build will have this "problem" you are referring to.

Throw is a separate action from the attack button regardless of rage. You click the throw button, choose what to throw and throw. When you rage you get an extra bonus throw action (and attack) but it has to be activated, so it becomes available from turn 2. Throw damage is good, especially from height but it's more for it's hit rate, you rarely miss which makes it a pretty consistent damage source. It does not however do a lot of peak damage.
