Nightsong Glitch
Third or fourth playthrough. I killed the nightsong and watched the Last Light Inn (which I had never been to) become swallowed up by darkness - but after I killed Ketheric, Jaheira was present in Moonrise Tower. She wanted to join my party and had a few barking dialogues with Minthara (who was sitting on Ketheric's throne).

When I left the shadowlands, I got a notification about being sad that I hadn't lifted the curse. Wtf is happening? Why doesn't the game know I'm evil?

killing the nightsong has nothing do with lifting the shadow curse? dunno why you're calling this a nightsong glitch

The shadow curse is the manifestation of Shar's vengeance - killing the nightsong has literally everything to do with the shadow curse, in terms of the plot.

Aside from that, mechanically, it causes the barrier around the Last Light Inn to collapse - so how did Jaheira survive, and why does she want to hang out with me?

cos jaheira moves up to moonrise when ketheric is dead?

She shouldn't be there if the player has never interacted with her, and took pains to destroy her sanctuary in the shadowlands, AND killed Isobel in the process.

Seriously, this is a huge storytelling oversight. Shoe-horning a good-aligned NPC into my evil playthrough when factually they should be dead based on evil things I've done is immersion- breaking.

So I was trying to have a serious discussion about like, maybe there was a flag I missed somewhere that would have eliminated this inconsistency, but I can see you're out here just trying to police people's opinions about the game. Why bother to comment if thats all you have to add?

Arbitrarily killing this NPC who shouldnt have even showed up will obviously not smooth over what is objectively an error in the game's design.

I haven't policed anything about you or what you think

No, not really. game-mechanically lifting the shadow-curse requires you to solve the quest involving Halsin, Thaniel, and Oliver, the child in the house in deep shadows.

What the game says, well, its just its way of saying you didn't solve the shadow curse.

Right, and the opposite of lifting it is killing the Nightsong and making sure it never gets lifted

So where is the validation of my evil actions? Why bother to let me do evil things if you're gonna go senile and forget the choices you let me make every ten minutes?

This is WILD.

OP wants to be evil. Kills Nightsong. Kills everyone at Last Light except Jaheira, but is pissed that it doesn't also kill Jaheira.

Does not lift Shar's curse, but is pissed that the cutscene says the party is "sad" that the curse was not lifted.

Yes, fine, I can see the issue there on that cutscene because it is slightly immersion-breaking for a player who deliberately wanted the curse to remain, but it is so trivial compared to the fact that the game fully allowed you to play the game exactly like you wanted to.

Wow, in the description of the post I made it clear that I had never been to the last light inn, but go off, I guess

Not exactly. Isobel and Nightsong have nothing to do with the shadow curse. You can kill the nightsong and lift the shadowcurse, free nightsong and leave the shadowcurse, or whatever you choose if that agrees with your run.
Jaheira can survive the fall of last light inn because she was blessed by Isobel beforehand. If she appears to you later (i agree it's weird), just tell her she's not your type.

Even when playing as Shadowheart dark justiciar you will not get a reward for letting the shadowcurse, nor will you get a punishment or even a remark from Shar for lifting it : Shar just doesn't care anymore as it is something dating back when KT was sharran and he failed her since then.

Shar doesn't really GAF about the curse, agreed. Shar really only cares about pissing off Selune. And quite possibly the same is true for Selune really only caring about pissing off Shar.
