You murdered someone among their midst.

Yeah.

Sounds like "a regular Tuesday" for Bhaalists.

If the most skilled person in your gang was killed in front of you, you would stay quiet.

Piggybacking off the whole killing the best amongst the group; Bhaalist also believe if you get your arse merc'd then you weren't meant for much and deserve it. So seeing Orin get ****ed up, they all just thought she was trash and now they all are vying for Chosen for Bhaal since the race to the top never stops for them until only one is left.

I assume you are talking about the cultists standing around at the top of the sacrificial altar area after the fight with Orin? I tend to give them a special personalized lesson in murder on my way out of there.

It is a bit odd that, once you deal with her chief rival, she actually keeps her word and waits for you to duel her, no? I mean, Bhaal's the lord of murder; why not show up at your camp and try to kill you while you're unaware?

Because for all her power and ancestry, orin doesn't truly understand Bhaal. She wants to make ceremonies and grand offerings of victims to bhaal, and for somebody important like the Mc she would certainly want to do it herself, with them aware and bhaal watching her as she kills the mc in his sanctum.

But as you say bhaal just wants murder, he doesn't care how its done. So yeah, Orins vanity/lack of understanding of bhaal is what stops her here.

I admit it is strange they are just kinda quietly milling around the Temple shortly after you kill Orin, same way as they were as you arrived.

It sorta reminds me of when Conan the Barbarian kills Thulsa Doom in front of all his cultists in the movie with Ahhhnold. They don't say a word. They don't weep and wail. They don't attack Conan. They don't even seem to know what to do. So all they end up doing is dousing their torches and quietly walking away from the sanctum. Though I agree if they are Bhaalists they are probably quietly thinking over who will take over the cult next now that Sarevok and Orin are dead.

BTW, the dead Bhaalspawn in Orin's bedroom is supposed to be Durge, or what happened to Durge if you are not playing Durge; Orin tortured and killed him and left his corpse in her bedroom. Well, her mother's corpse is also hanging in the same room.

Right. Orin is crazy, and loves these ritual killings and all that. But Bhaal doesn't actually care about Orin's insane "artistry". Bhaal just wants people killed. Simple killings are just as good to Bhaal.

Spoilers?

Though I have yet to try it myself, I've read that a Durge playthrough reveals one reason why Orin betrayed the Durge (who Gortash always liked better than Orin, and so did Sarevok; even though she was his daughter, Sarevok thought Durge did it better; Durge was involved in a lot of the initial planning for their plot before his, uh, amnesia) was jealousy, because Bhaal preferred Durge to Orin.
