This game pisses me off than any other games i've ever played
Waiting for 10 enemies to finally finish their turn just to get a CRITICAL MISS and when you lose the fight you realized you haven't saved the game for the past 3 hours

bg3 auto save for you once in a blue moon
Is your F5 key guarded by Lady Janneth (also, what were you doing for those 3 hours? Testing dyes? It was dyes, wasn't it. Gotta quicksave before dyes, it's never what you were expecting)?!
I was dying over and over to one encounter and finally managed to win the fight on the 7th try, I died because I got hit with a hard fight that I didn't prepared for yet and realized I didn't save the game
I forgot to press the F5 key, totally my fault, I think i should stick a sticky note on my monitor to remind me to press F5 every now and then

It's not about being lazy, it's just a button press but you have to play the game long enough to remember to save and if you don't, the game literally punishes you because you forgot to press a button.

For peoples that aren't familiar with games that require you to manual save before they won't have the habit of saving the game every 10 minutes and they'll be losing some hours of play time before they start to press the save button more frequently.

Loosing over 3 hours of gameplay sucks, I give you that, but the game does autosave in most dangerous areas, just because you explore and don't mind manually saving (or forget), doesn't mean the game is meant to do it for you every now and then. You think rogue like games didn't punish careless players? And they mostly save only at exit, so you could continue next time you start the game and didn't have to go all the way from the begining. Yet those games were (and still are) very popular. Begs the question why is that?
Now people just ask for more frequent autosaves, when the game already does autosave, just not every 10 seconds. So we're back to my previous statement. As you said, it's not as much as to push a button. You are punished for not doing that. If it's laziness, forgetfulness, or whatever, doesn't really matter much.

In all seriousness, we all do it - though I must warn you to brace for the day you hit quickload instead of save, and hope whatever boss etc. you have to repeat is just as unlucky next time.

You posted here to let everyone know you don't understand the importance of saving your progress? The good news is, you'll never do that again. With anything digital - save early and often my friend.

I can't be the only one saving to several artisan-styled necklaces made out of floppy disks for each game, surely?

Most autosaves are fine, they are created at the most important places and times in the game. It almost sounds like you haven't even played the game at all. You reach an area, the game makes an autosave, it isn't required for it to "THINK for you" and save everytime you make a small movement (in other words every 2 seconds). If it bothers you, then save manually, there's always that option. Autosaves in frequent periods of time are unnecessary. It's like people just getting more and more lazy, next time they will ask the game to be played for them, right? There are autosaves for you to not loosing hours of progress, just use them, when you need. If it isn't enough, then save manually however often you want (aside from Honour mode there's no restriction). The game doesn't have to be PERFECT, people just don't need to be so lazy.
LOL this community, years of development among hundreds of people around the world and it's the player's fault Larian wouldn't do better. Solasta did better with a fraction of the resources, years before.

Do you want Swen to personally fly to your house, pick up your hand, and use your finger to press the F5 key every 10 minutes or something? How are you blaming Larian because you can't remember to quick save?

Is this post for real? The only games where this isn't potentially a problem are ones like Dark Souls that update your save automatically and continuously.

Just constantly hit F5.

How do you ever forget?

I love most of the argument in this topic.

I'm in the "why the ♥♥♥♥ is auto save not saving" camp.

Since you can literally get 3 save in less than 5 minutes or not once in 2 hours depending on your activities.
We're in 2024, if it was difficult to make save go on every 5 or 10 minutes I think we would have known for a while now.
If, like some of you like to say it, I have to press a key on regular basis to the point of needing an alarm to do it might as well have been automated in the first place.

Yes, I can forget about it because I like to play the game not to think like some degenerate that want the very perfect game and go for the F5+F8 combo at every corner and so I don't think about saving since it shouldn't be considered a gameplay mechanics in the first place.

In the other hand, I understand it comes from more classical RPG, and hear classical as OLD not as GOOD.
But in that regard then why implement a save system ? In paper RPG you can't really save, even less reload a save, apart when you quit the game so let's go with it and if you die you lose everything you worked on like real life, no ?

In fact the save system is not my principal grief with the game it's more of an AI problem.
Since I lost nearly 2 hours because NPC seems to love to throw themselves at the thing I throw to disable or change fire or liquid state. And so you don't even go for the misunderstanding, you're outright bad and they go for the kill... If only we were the same level and not 2 or 3 over mine. It's easier to kill ennemies than friend and that's not at a moral point just at the physical level.

And by combining the two you can lose a lot of time because the program is just a program and mea culpa doesn't exist for the computer, it only makes me want to play outright bad and go for world destruction for the pleasure of looking at them burn by my hand.

If your dying over and over. I'd suggest your either under geared or under levelled. I explored everything on the map before I even attempted the Goblin base. There is literally so much quests and things to do that I am usually level 5 by then.
HAVEGUTS 24. des. 2024 kl. 12.22
make sure you have advantage before you attack. positioning yourself on high ground before the fight starts is an easy and achievable way to do this. if you are in a dangerous area, press "sneak" so you can tell if you are being watched or not. good luck!

untrue! you can beat lots of high level fights with bad gear if you constantly have advantage!
