How many people let Astarion drink there blood on the first night
Like there's an option to kill and also an option to reject. But I felt bad so I let him suck my blood, and he wants to do it again so soon.

If he wants my blood I better get a cookie and a cup of orange juice for my trouble.

I don't give my blood 'fer free.

I usually just kill him... It's very hard for me to get passed the meta of not killing someone who tried to stab me, and then suck my blood.

The stabbing is perfectly understandable. He had just escaped the nightmare of a Mindflayer ship and knew you had been on it. Everything he knows says that if you were walking free on the ship, you were a thrall. So until he knows otherwise, anyone that was on the ship is a threat to him.

As for trying to bite you...well, he's effectively starving to death at that point. He hadn't managed to catch an animal to feed on for days. Starvation makes people act irrationally.

Up to you whether that's enough, but it's not as cut and dry as you make it out.

For me, it's pretty cut and dry.
If im a thrall, why would you instantly attack me? You dont know my powers, you dont know what Im capable of, you were perfectly hidden, could have easily let me walk by.
You jump me when I most likely have Shadowheart with me? 2v1? Not only that but youre supposed to be weak and starving? Big brain play Asty.
On top of that, instead of asking me to hunt for you, which could have been an easy source of blood, which you could have easily gotten away with.. You wait till the night, after we wander around, to jump me in the middle of my sleep, in a camp full of people, after I let you tag along.
As someone who has been in some seriously desperate situations themselves, he's not being irrational, he's being an idiot. Beyond dumb honestly.

100%
Astarion is lawful stupid in... many of his decisions throughout the campaign.
And… I’m disappointed by that.
And having him ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan whenever I try to do something outside his moral purview doesn’t help his case. Especially because, in a sense, he should encourage good-natured characters in their tendencies (both because of his allegedly experience in manipulation, both because it should be a nice change of pace for him regardless): after all, it is only because of a player bleeding heart, that he is tagging along. So having him criticize the very source of his survival seems… silly.
And getting caught in the night during his friendly fire episode… it’s the straw that break the camel’s back for me. Especially like that.
I mean… tear some crocodile tears the day before, tell me you need blood because you’re a “pwetty weak vhampir”… and I could have provided goblins by the dozen. Hundreds, even.
I find hard to even like Astarion, when he doesn’t explain anything (fair, everybody has their secrets), but at the same time want to be scot-free from the consequences of his actions AND decide for the entire party (see Raphael).

.....do you think being a thrall immediately gives you more powers? And better to get the drop on you than the other way around. How was he to know you'd just walk by and weren't actively hunting him? An ambush gives him the advantage. Even with a 2v1. Now he's got a hostage and can quickly turn it into a 1v1.

Not only that but youre supposed to be weak and starving? Big brain play Asty.

.....he hadn't gone days without hunting yet at that point. The bite attempt doesn't come until after several long rests.

People tend to kill vampires and spawn on sight. You really can't grasp why he'd withhold that information?

When was the last time you were LITERALLY STARVING TO DEATH? And the only way to feed yourself was to actively hunt living prey?

He was to the point of either risk taking the easy bite or starve to death. Getting caught would likely mean death, but so would not feeding. Now the narrative is if you don't let him feed and force him to go hunt an animal instead, he gets lucky and manages to find something to feed on. But that was by no means guaranteed.

Partial correction: the bite scene can happen even during the first long rest, if you've progressed enough and reached, for example, the Blighted Village.
And this probably colored much of my… perceptions about Astarion.
Regardless, I find many of his following actions equally dumb.

1. No, being a thrall doesnt give me innate powers, but many thralls have powers, not the point tho... Asty is 200yrs old, and seen some crazy stuff.. Just gonna assume the person who survives a mindflayer ship is a weakling? He knows Shadowheart is going to try to defend me and not kill us both while we roll around on the ground like idiots? His plan is to take a thrall hostage so he can make it a 1v1? LMAO. The dude who spent 200yrs as a slave who couldnt even hunt properly and had to get people drunk to feed? Okay. Lets just make the assumption I am a threat, I am a weakling, so is my partner, and also, theyre hunting you specifically to the point you cant remain hidden, or let them pass. Solid logic.

2. If that's the case then why wait days? Could have fed on someone else why we wandered around, the grove didnt even know harpies were living a 100yrds down by the water, not exactly the most situationaly aware. Better yet, how about feed on any of the people I maimed along the way? If only stealth was a part of being a rogue you could do it in secret... If youre that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a vampire tho and cant get food yourself, then why would you think feeding on me in the middle of the night is a good idea?
Also,. youre gonna feed on the one person who has been trusting you? Lets just ignore that Ive been helping you as well... "I feel this strong urge taking over me, I better move on so I dont hurt someone"..... "Nah, lets wait till the last minute and then try to bite them."

3. I specifically stated "which you could have easily gotten away with", which means he could have fed in secret from the hunt. "Thanks for tagging that boar for me, Ill skin and clean it for us..." But again, asty prob too dumb to think about that, or honestly, to crappy of a vampire. Going back to #2 tho, if ur that bad of a vampire, then leave, stop putting others in danger cause you suck at life.

3. Not going to cover the situations Ive been in, but putting myself in his shoes isnt difficult in the slightest considering my background. If the cannon is that it's been days, then it's been days for him to find another source, or trick me into getting him some blood. Or if Im on my durge run, and he sees me massacre people, he could ask for help. Heck, he could even leave.. Literally dozens of options he could take that would be better than feeding on someone who trusts him.

From my perspective, as someone who has lived a very desperate life at times, he has no survival instincts, little to no sense of awareness, and lacks the basic ability to draw the simplest of logical conclusions.

I wasnt going to say something, cause I thought my stoner brain was misremembering, but yea, in my game, Im pretty sure the knife scene, and the bite scene, happened in the same day technically.

I have never let Astarion drink my blood in that scene.

I used to always let him stay in camp, though.

More recently I have often been attacking him (either killing him or wounding him and causing him to leave forever). I ... don't miss having him around. He's one of my least favorite characters.

Whether I keep him or attack him tends to depend on how I am role-playing the forgiveness and understanding nature of my Tav.

The only thing I usually regret about not having him in my party is the +2 strength potion you can get from the blood lady.

And considering how... ubiquitous potion of giant strength can become...
I hardly felt cheated by missing it.

Which is another interesting point, in a way: Astarion is an arsehole, as many as the other companions in the beginning (he mostly remains the same), but he is also probably the one who brings the less utility to the party as a whole.
The point I’m trying to make is: Astarion benefits greatly from joining the party. But, at the same time, contributes less or not at all. AND he also demands to decide for all…
While, at the same time, characters like Lae’Zel are ready to ditch their entire previous life to support the party…
This is another aspect of him I can’t stand.

Arguably, as a vampire spawn he *can't* "ditch his entire previous life". For him it's not really a choice like it is for Lae'zel or Shadowheart.

But I'm tired of the "angsty vampire" thing in general, and I don't like Astarion in particular (despite that his voice actor did a great job).

So-so....
I mean... as long as the tadpole remains “installed” he can go against previous Cazador’s orders.
But that’s beside the point.
Astarion is a…. disappointment if confronted with others more worthy inhabitant of the nights. I agree Astarion VO did a great job with him and I’m even more frustrated with seeing it wasted on such a character.
