Are achievements just completely borked?
I'm almost at the end of act 1 in my first playthrough, and I have only received 4 achievements so far, despite having done several more. Unburying 5 chests took me about 15 chests before I finally got it. Just pushed an enemy down a chasm... nothing.

Yeah, I'm running some visual mods like camp outfits and CC additions but nothing else, as I wanted to experience the game as is first, before I decide what mods could improve gameplay wise. But I do have the script extender installed so achievements should work nonetheless. Besides, I've finished the intro without having any mods installed (I only did that later on) and still didn't get Decend from Avernus achievement.

Does it matter if I start the game from the BG3 Mod Manager or from Steam directly? I've done either sporadically so I can't say how I started the game the few times I received an achievement. Then again, I didn't even have the MM yet for the intro achievement I didn't get...

Doesn't matter if it's a visual mod... Mods turn off Achievements and it's hit or miss if Script Extender will reenable them.

I didn't mean that visual mods would be different from any other mod regarding achievements. And as said, I didn't have any mods enabled when finishing the intro, which should have given me an achievement...

Achievements are a little bit crappy in BG3. Some are so hard to guess, you need a guide to get a good score. At the end, doing everything I usually do in other games, I got 61%, worst score ever ex aequo with The Witcher 2. My typical score is almost always >=80%. In my current game, with 27% completed, my achievement are already at 23%.

I honestly don't care about either way about achievements. I mean, it's nice to get one (and sometimes humorous) but I don't actively seek to achieve them.

Why no achieves? Oh yeah, I'm running mods....

Same. I don't actively pursue them. I have 64% done in this game and all of them have been surprises.

Like the one, kill Gortash without activating the grenade launchers in his throne room. I think only like 4% of the player base has that one. But it is so easy to do. It requires simple smart strategy. Don't fight him in that room. :P

My favorite? "Romance the Emperor" LOL.

I'm not entirely sure why achievements wouldn't work for you in this case, though if you added mods to the save and then only later added BG3SE, this could be why. There's some iffiness with the achievements unlocking if you had saved with mods on before adding BG3SE (particularly for ones that tally, like that chest one).

Edit: Oh, also for the fall damage one, the enemy needs to actually take fall damage. Chasms don't work.

And ... why do you tell me that? I do.

Ah, I see. I did get the SE later, so it's possible I got the 5 chests afterwards and the others didn't count.

Well, I guess that makes it significantly more difficult but good to know. Does the Expand Your Mind achievement only work on the first parasite? I've just consumed my third one (there may have been no SE for the first two) but I didn't get it. Or is there some other mechanic to it?

Also, regarding mods, if you have some that override base game files, The Mod Editor specifically mentions they remain active even when you switch them off. If I turn all mods off for a new run, will achievements still be affected by those?

Have you spent any of the points you've gotten from the parasite? I believe that's the trigger.

Someone else will have to chime in about the Mod Editor, I'm afraid.

I know before the BG3 in game mod manager I could use mods and still get achievements, it's how I got most of mine and yes I tend to use only cosmetic mods, like hair and outfits and the all classes choose a God mod. lol

Not quite sure what you mean by "spent any of the points". I click on the Illithid Powers icon next to the map in the top right of the screen. Then I select and activate one of the powers and the worm is consumed. I even used the power to see if that triggers it, but no.

I just received the Shove Off (thanks again for the info with the chasm, wouldn't even have tried otherwise) and the Action Surge achievement. So I am getting some.

Oh, so consuming a parasite will give the party another point to spend on those powers. When you pick up a parasite, and you haven't embraced your powers yet, it will just get added to your inventory (if you still have some parasites afterwards, you need to right click -> consume to get the point). If you've already done that then any you pick up will be automatically consumed, thus automatically adding the point.

If this isn't unlocking the achievement, you might have missed your chance on this playthrough.
