With multiplayer being P2P it is never a game issue.
Had no issues doing multiplayer shortly after the OP, and saw roughly 20 full servers at the time and a ton of 2 player servers, so it doesn't seem a wide-spread issue. I realise that's not exactly helpful for you're issue.
Additionally, bugs and other issues should be going in the 'Technical and Gameplay Problems' subforum. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/3/
Any of you using mods that might have updated by any chance? Maybe some of you aren't using the same versions?
Not sure what patch you're referring to, as far as I'm aware there hasn't been one for almost a month.
No one can without details. The most common mistake people make is using Steam instead of direct connect code. The second common mistake has something to do with danger zones. There it will help to load a different savegame and have all party members connected before loading the actual savegame you want to play with.
I used direct connect mode with my partner 1h ago, and the connection failed. At first I thought it might have sth to do with my (official) mod, but disabling or deleting the mod didnt work either.
Disabling / deleting is not sufficient. You need to make sure everyone has cleared up their profile and cache.
The moment mods are involved, it is definitely no longer a game issue.
Consult the mods authors for help.
There are no official mods regardless of what an author may call their mod.
The mods on the built-in browser are just mods that people have uploaded and don't break the browser's rules.
It is a faulty measure to protect your run from getting ruined when the game is set to public.
I've submitted a report to Support, did the recommended fixes they responded to me with, and still to no avail. Definitely a server issue of some sort.
