Guides and Guide Book recommendation?
I am kind of old school and love a good guidebook for complicated games like BG3. Even had one for Skyrim back in the day. There are a couple on amazon but ratings are mostly negative. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for players who are new to both BG3 and DnD (as I am). It would be super useful in not missing any major plot points while I explore. A physical guidebook would be preferred but I'll settle for an online one too.

Long story short: there is none.
As an older player myself I can relate with you. The best I know of are

A printed version is not available unless it is a third party one which I mostly consider scam on amazon marketplace, as the content is mostly stolen from random online guides. Even my content get stolen repeatedly with watermarks removed by the perpetrators.

If you wish to dive deeper into D&D you could go for the official Players' Handbook, but it will do you little as the Baldur's Gate 3 game has adjusted rules to make it more usable for a videogame.

Besides the basic D&D rules are available for free via the D&D Beyond app, making an extra pay of circa 40 EUD quite the costly investment for an outdated book, considering there is a newer version already which does not apply to the Baldur's Gate 3 game, and that you only want to use it for Baldur's Gate 3.

If you have a hard time starting the game, you can also check out this

otherwise I recommend just to take your time. It is always overwhelming at first, but managable if you take notes and enjoy yourself. Happy adventuring! :spacehamster:

My recommendation is just play the game. A guide would have spoiled the experience.

I personally recommend using the BG3 Wiki.

bg3.wiki ...

One caution: it has spoilers, fine if you want them, be careful to avoid them if you don't. But it has guides for the story, romances, combat, mechanics, and characters.

I still use it, because sometimes I forget what something does ... etc. ... etc.

Wow thank you so much for the information! It sucks there isnt a physical guide but these are great to start with! DND is a bit overwhelming as a newbie and like you mentioned it doesnt exactly help directly with BG3. Thanks for sharing some specific guides!

Thank you for the info! I was looking for something a little more specific in the way a walk through would be. But I definitely used this during character creation.

The Wiki basically is a walkthrough. It can help you with stuck quests, it can give you puzzle solutions, it can tell you how to progress events, it can tell you what NPCs/loot/encounters are in what areas. It will spoil just about anything you want spoiled; I can tell you on my first playthrough, I always prefer spoilers to tearing my hair out.
