Uninstalling itself? If this has to do with multiplayer, my first guess is it has something to do with his firewall. It probably isn't BG3 doing the uninstalling, but his system's overly cautious firewall.

See if he can whitelist the BG3 launcher and/or executable. Running it as admin might also work.

Edit: As other commenters have pointed out, this isn't entirely accurate. To be clear, your buddy should be looking in whatever Anti-Virus software he is using, double check its firewall's network settings, and whitelist BG3's exe just in case. The exe likely isn't actually "uninstalled," just quarantined, which he can also reverse in that same program.

This is the only thing I can think of. There should be nothing at all causing the game to uninstall if he's not doing it himself aside from it being blocked by the firewall that I know of. Granted, not the most PC tech savvy person out there but that shouldn't be a thing without his input under normal circumstances lol

we'll try both, thanks much gents

I don't get it. Why do people with such a hate-boner for the game even come to these forums? It must be miserable to constantly talk about something you don't like so much.

Firewall don't do that, they are just blocking network traffic either way or both ways. Culprit would be more an over zealous anti-virus software who detect a threat and put the executable in quarantine.

Well, in this case it is both (probably the same program, though). If it was just an anti-virus problem, the exe would get blocked when they tried to launch it, not when trying to connect to a multiplayer lobby.

anitvirus usually puts the exe in quarantine where you can restore it with a click after checking it out. You shouldn't have to do anything except restore it and tell your AV to knock it off.

steam will uninstall games in weird ways if your disk is full, as another thing it could be.

Quite often anti-virus software come effectively with a firewall module, but not all of them. An over zealous firewall will not prevent the game to run but will prevent the player to connect to the network (so deny playing in multiplayer mode or synchronizing saves on the cloud).

I think we might just be arguing semantics--the difference between a firewall module and a dedicated firewall program--but I can see my original comment could use some clarification so I'll add in an edit.
Does your buddy have a legitimate copy

Yea, software doesn't just randomly "uninstall itself". You friend is either lying to you or fundamentally misunderstanding what is going on. And why aren't they solving their own problems instead of having you do it?
