Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if one of Larian's next projects delves into SF, maybe they want to get out of the Fantasy niche after 5 years working on BG3
It literally uses 3d edition d&d rules.
Their reputation is so high after the success of BG3 that they probably don't feel the need to use a popular IP to extend their audience...
One's heart can only take so much.
While it would be interesting to see a new Star Wars game with 5e based rules, to my knowledge the tabletop version was never updated to newer rulesets. It would take a lot of work for someone to do that, not to mention the licensing hassle. I'd go out on a limb and say that Disney wouldn't want to touch D&D with a 90ft pole after the OGL debacle; not with how litigious they are.
Question is, will it be a space exploration game, like the Star Wars games, Mass Effect. Starfield, and Rogue Trader? I wouldn't mind that, I found Starfield to be a massive letdown after all the hype building it up.
Or will it be a more 'terrestrial' cyberpunk type game, maybe even with a touch of fantasy, like Shadowrun? Given that they've mostly only done fantasy games up until this point, this seems more up their alley. And honestly what I'm hoping for. But nobody knows.
There are framework systems out there (like 5e SRD, d20, and Savage Worlds) that are intended to be reskinned and expanded into other settings within certain (and sometimes strict) monetization limits.
The original question didn't mention Larian doing it. So, I'm guessing this is just a general discussion of whether D&D (of any edition) can be reskinned as Star Wars.
tl;dr: Yes. It's possible and has been done.
To include Larian: Yes. The Divinity Engine can be used for a Star Wars skin, but how will it works is up to what the players expect to do and how well someone can legally manipulate the engine. Larian is unlikely to do it.
Instead of adapting D & D to SW, you could just play this ... there already IS a Star Wars based TTRPG.

Now: could it be adapted to a Star Wars CRPG? I'm sure someone could, but we all know Larian, at least for their next 2 games, is NOT going to do that, as they've said they intend to stick only with their own IP. The problem is making a SW video game probably not only needs the license from FFG, but also permission from Disney - and there's gonna be the real problem.
AFAIK, the Old Republic MMORPG is, as many MMOs often do, using its own in-house brewed-up system.
As long as it isn't KotoR 2. One reason I like BG3 so far is it just feels better written. Good guys can actually accomplish something, our party members are actually likable, we don't have some author mouthpiece always whining about everything we do and how much they hate everything they were hired to write about, and we're not constantly being told "oh the bad guys had to kill billions of people to prepare for new bad guys."
