Godawfull neural puzzle near the end Act 2
I must be doing something wrong. I've comments where one guy said he solved i 4 minutes! I spent like 6 or 7 hours at it. Being colorblind, half deaf, and having poor eyesight doesn't help at all.
I can't seem to get all the scences to stay lit. And, aparrently, only the first path lights up.
Anybody got any hints for a ffrustrated old man?

Not much can be done with colourblind, half deaf and poor eyesight. There are supposingly glasses for colour blindness, but the deaf part... maybe carrots for the eyesight.

For the puzzle: do it backwards which is much easier and what I believe is everyone doing

The real questions is if there is any loot worth the level of frustration one must endure to complete the puzzle. My opinion is a resounding NO.

I recall there is a nice sword.

Plus solving the puzzle itself is a reward. It is easy enough, though. In doubt take a break and try again later. Sometimes the harder you try the harder it gets.

I've never bothered to do it, but the wiki says solving the puzzle gives access to a room behind it that has the following items:

Blade of Oppressed Souls - which causes Crown of Madness on hit
The Waking Mind - which when used at the Mind Archive Interface, can give you the Githzerai Mind Barrier buff
The Circlet of Mental Anguish
and
Braindrain Gloves

I kinda find the names of these items funny to hide behind a puzzle so many find frustrating. Of course, IMHO, none of these are THAT great. But I think also solving the puzzle gives some inspiration and XP.

Githzerai Mind Barrier buff in permament. So it's worth finishing this puzzle. But everything else is doubtful

Seconded. Almost any permanent buff is worth the cost of entry, particularly when in the case the cost is just a tricky puzzle.

Hover over the selection of the starting node and ending nodes. they each have a name. You need to connect the ones at the start to their corresponding named node at the end.

Spoilers.

Apparently, if you put the Waking Mind Jar in the Mind Archive (there are other jars you can put in it, but they only lead to dialogue), and you agree to purge the mind of the Githzerai monk trapped inside ... you can get the buff.

Githzerai Mind Barrier does give you Advantage on all Intelligence Saving Throws.

BTW, there is a solution to the puzzle at the Wiki.

Oh, and one more thing, according to the Wiki, on the desk near where the Mind Archive is where you can put the Waking Mind jar in, is something called a Resonance Stone. Doesn't seem like such a great item ... the AoE it radiates, "Steeped in Bliss," gives Advantage on physical DC checks, but gives Disadvantage on mental saving throws and makes you vulnerable to Psychic damage.

The sword is so-so. The real loot is the brain jar. You can stick it into the brain jar machine nearby and get a small permanent bonus on some saves.

I did it the first time I was there and not since. And won't in the future. I generally hate puzzles and that one is no exception. The rewards is not that great ether. And they certainly are not anything your char needs to beat the game. Even on Honor Mode rule set for the bosses.

No they're 100% a sham. Glasses can't fix you not having cones.

Search the puzzle on Youtube and copy the exact steps being done.

I like the puzzle. It's pretty easy -- if you can see colors. It would a nightmare if you can't tell the colors apart, though.

Like the others said your best chance is probably straight up to watch some Youtuber doing it.

Here's one (at the exact part / time). He does it from a top down perspective, maybe that is a bit more helpful for you: https://youtu.be/rrXpYdlhuy8?t=6451

I hate that puzzle with a vengeance and usually skip it. Determined to get the reward for it on my current run though because it suits my team this time.
Mike Garrison Dec 9, 2024 @ 9:45pm
Thing is, the puzzle is actually quite easy -- if you can see the colors. Start either at the front or back. Look for parts of the puzzle that have only one node they can connect to. Connect those nodes. Now there will be more nodes that only have one node they can connect to (because the other options are already in use). Connect those nodes. Etc. Just keep doing that until you can connect the front to the back for all four paths.

The trick is to do it layer by layer and not try to do one path all the way through, and then the next path all the way through, etc.
