Devil's sight means she can see fine in normal darkness as well as magical darkness caused by magic.
Meaning you could drop said spells on top of her and everything else would have disadvantage on attacks and perception checks but she would be fine and even end up better off because anyone else in it would be blind with the debuffs that entails.
In table top this is often used by a warlock to put magical darkness on an object they are carrying and run around with it being centered on them.
It requires concentration but works well enough.
Sadly spells that cause magical darkness in game are centered on a point not an object.
Still good but not quite as abuseable.
So do you need it ?
Not absolutely unless you want to be able to shoot/melee effectively inside/through magical darkness where everyone else is blind.
(if you don't have it it will mean magical darkness shuts you down as much as anyone else inside it or trying to shoot through it)
Honestly no idea there.
She should see fine in normal darkness but without devils sight should be as blind as anyone else when in magical darkness.
she should be affected. Are you sure she was not? All it does is prevent ranged attacks and disadvantage on melee, but she hits pretty well so may hit anyway in melee and does minimal ranged (hold person, or brand her buddy, not much else). A good melee char can charge into dark can chop up the enemy just fine more often than not.
No disadvantage, same as my loc.
