30 fps after AMD and windows 11 update?
last night i updated my amd driver and windows 11 to whatever "version 24H2" is, some kind of big update, now the games stuck at 30fps and i have no idea how to revert this ♥♥♥♥ back to the quality it was yesterday.

the game itself even loads slower than it did just last night. i'm not that technically savvy so i have no idea what to do.

edit: i'm even noticing slower load times and frame dips in my other games now.

Make sure to check the usual suspects

whether Adrenaline has auto-optimisation on, performance mode is activated etc.

In doubt, share a DxDiag report for details.

performance is on. driver version is 24.12.1. i can't remember what driver version i was on before the update, most likely the one before this. but i wonder if it was the windows update that screwed me more than the driver.

i have no idea what a DxDlag is

You can revert the driver version by downloading directly from the AMD website and uninstalling the current driver using Display Driver Uninstaller.

A DxDiag report is basically a troubleshooting report card which lists system specifications and common Wndows issues the system noticed.

Did you also try increasing the game's priority via task manager while running?

Windows games optimisation disabled / game running in windowed mode?

i don't know how to increase a games priority like that, and the game worked perfectly fine and fluid yesterday in fullscreen, i don't believe i should be forced to play windowed mode.

You are mixing things up there.
If you are not interested in troubleshooting then you are on your own.

it was already in borderless windowed mode. windowed mode was also capped at 30 fps.
i reverted the amd driver back to 24.10.1 with the help of a friend, and both of those windowed modes were still at 30fps. but for some wierd ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason, fullscreen was running flawlessly.

the game is still loading slower than it did yesterday though. that makes me think its the windows update

Considering I manage over 500 computers and from my experience Windows 11 is naively 30% slower than Windows 10. Welcome to the .Net web based windows environment and all the microsoft applications are being forced down this road.

Lets just hope windows 13 is better. :steammocking:

i went from windows 7 to this, only because steam was about to ♥♥♥♥ me over completely by locking my games out. and as far as i knew, that was going to happen with 10 within a year or two anyway.

Followed the steps in this post to restore windows to the previous version and now every game issue I had was fixed.

If anyone else is having issues with the new windows version, do the restore before your 10 day window is up.

Side note on that Windows update, it's been breaking a lot of games. Ubisoft in particular seemed to get hit hard by it.
