Playing the first 2 hours for EA or on release should give you an idea on if it's worth a buy.
How much turn-based, role-playing game experience do you have?
If you have zero, then you should be on YouTube right now watching playthroughs.
That'll give you a good idea of whether or not these games are in your wheelhouse.
They are tedious, challenging, and require a lot of patience.
Oh and you can not base your opinion entirely on what is currently available as everything is changing at launch. The character creator is getting more, and act 1 is revamping.
If you're on the fence just wait until full release. Read reviews, watch some gameplay on twitch or YouTube, then come to your own conclusion. You can also try out Divinity: OS 1/2 to see if Larian's style of RPG is for you in an overall sense.
The 3rd gender option. Muddies the waters between sex and gender. Where traditionally they are one in the same. It also means pronouns. For many Americans, pronouns go against the 1st Amendment as it forces speech on to others. It is a way to artificially feel special and to exert power over others by forcing their (Ever day more are created on Tiktok) pronouns on to them.
The dev stream showed that there will be the addition of a genital customization button at launch which most likely means you can create a female character with male parts, Many parents across America are currently pushing back against such concepts as bad actors are trying to confusing children.
Outside of the character creator, the last glaring issue for me is the fact that the straight relationship is basically gone. "But we can romance someone who is of the opposite sex." We can, but all the NPC companions that can be romanced are bi. They can be romanced by either gender. Someone tried to make the feeble argument that only the current play through matters, but to me and many others, these are suppose to be established characters. So they should react according to who they are as an established character no matter what sort of playthrough the player is making. Male, female, good, evil. etc. I consider it to be bad writing otherwise. I think it would be more interesting to have NPC companions that have preferences that are locked into place. (Straight, bi, etc)
