No, not in the way that WotC is going moving forward.
They are treating races as everyone can breed with everyone else, and players can choose to be half/half (but don't call it half-elf or whatever because that's inherently racist to say, lol) where you choose the stats of one racial parent and the appearance of the other.
Since the difference between "species" and "race" is the ability to breed, scientifically speaking, that means the word "race" actually fits even more now than ever before.
Personally I think WotC are being idiots thinking they can change how people have been talking about races in the game for decades just because they say it's problematic to use a word. If anything they'll get people to double down on saying "race" instead of "species" out of principle.
This exactly why we gatekeep our hobbies, kiddos. Turn the weirdos away at the door and let them create their own things that play by their rules.
I think it's too late for D&D. I and my gaming groups have moved on to Pathfinder now.
The OGL debacle and the news about WotC hiring Pinkertons to get Magic the Gathering Cards (that they sent by mistake) to a youtuber's house and how they threatened him and his wife kind of was the final nail in the coffin for me and my friends.
That was me, but was actually a rhetorical question. I knew where they came from. I was really just drawing attention to the original topic that sex between a mortal and a demon isn't likely to be consentual either.
Oh, I agree completely. I just like to point out what WotC is doing to DnD as a warning to all hobbyists. Gatekeep your hobbies. Don't let the perpetually offended have any say in them.
