Coop, not so much.
I mean I can't think of any example where a game would be more fun alone than with friends.
Even if in BG3, you can't have N@rut069 jumping in circles, it still bores me. My game, my story, my choices, my tactics.
If you wanna play with friends that will run up and talk to NPCs before you, joke around (like filling your inventory with 40 tons of crates while you go get a drink) and push you off cliffs for the luls play co-op.
I know I'll do both.
Co-op if you wanna fck around, have a good laugh and not take the game too seriously
It will have bugs and you should expect bugs.
However these bugs will be more in coop.
So it depends on if you and your friends are capable of looking past bugs and take it as it comes.
You will have full control of your story and less disturbances if you play solo.
If you play multiplayer you will probably have some friction in choices. but you will also get a different perspective on things or have a partner who approaches combat more different from yourself.
tl;DR it is a game that should be played through multiple times regardless, so either is fine.
