Edit: Since it was an easy find here's how it works in 5e
d6 Sorcerer, wizard
d8 Artificer, bard, cleric, druid, monk, rogue, warlock
d10 Fighter, paladin, ranger

Edit 2: Reread and the way it works is you use your class' hit die and add the CON modifier to the roll then heal that much.
Is that the rule they made?
Not sure if they modified it further, might be that we use more than one hit die roll per short rest in BG3.
Edit: Ahh yeah we have dice equal to our level so we probably use half of them per short rest.
So if it works as assumed at lv 4 you regain 6-24hp per rest, at lv 6 you get 9-36 and so on.
