ADVICE ON STONESKIN SPELL
Hi so, this thread is about the stoneskin spell: https://www.aidedd.org/dnd/sorts.php?vo=stoneskin
I remember (a very long time ago) that the spell stoneskin in D&D2 was really good.
The version of this spell in D&D3 was also quite good.
But in D&D5, i wonder.
The fact that it is only for 1 hour, with concentration(might be the worst detail) and that it is giving resistance only against "non-magical" damage... I picturing it as a bad spell.
The 3td version had also a limitation (ineffective against +5 weapons) but the +5 weapon was super rare so that was ok.

I'm playing an abjurator and i begin to be quite convinced that this spell is terrible. I like your TT advice on it, thank you.

Resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, piercing and slashing only.

So, it's only useful against certain creatures.

The tootip you sent doesn't say how much resistance it gives you.

It means that you are reducing the incoming damage (bludgeoning, piercing and slashing) by half.
A little like the barbarian.

The worst case that i am picturing is:
You are summoning your stoneskin (so concentration), you take damage on your next turn (so you need a concentration roll) and you fail your concentration roll and lose the spell...

Resistance in 5e is half damage (rounded down).
