Adamantine Items need a buff
^ For all you have to do to make only 2 items, they sadly don't compete with other items you can get in act 1.

There are armors and other weapons (etc) that have higher AC/dmg and better additional effects than what the Adamantine gear offers. Which is pretty disappointing because its supposed to be the literal best type of gear you can get in DnD.

Effects granted by the Adamantine gear also do not not stack AKA Reeling.

They do look really good though.

We'll see how this pans out once the game actually releases.

Honestly, the shield looks pretty juicy. Reeling on miss is rather powerful if you're stacking AC.
Nope.

My prediction: adamantine crafted items will be upgradable in later acts. I seem to remember BG2 having things like that.

Base adamantine armor is only an uncommon item in 5e. You'd have to house rule +1/2/3 variants to make it anywhere near the "literal best"

The adamantine armor thats already in the game is already a lot better than base 5e, since you can just get crit immune from a medium armor helmet.

yea, but it's nowhere near being the best type of gear you can get in D&D as the OP said, and it shouldn't be.

My adamantine longsword can surely compete with the sword of zariel, right? Right?? And the adamantine plate with armor of invulnerability! Right? Right??

That was not what i meant at all kinda stupidly exaggerated. The Adamantine heavy armor which only has 17 and is supposed to be a quest reward (choice dependent). Is it outclassed by some of the armors offered in act 1 and the moment you make it to Baldurs Gate, merchants start offering 20AC plate mail etc. It just weird's me out how you can go through a rather medium/long (party dependent) quest using an ancient forge to craft some of the most desired stuff in Faerun, only for some merchant to be selling something better 30-40 mins later.
