RP: playing as your real life self :-)

Thats something I did in PF:WotR, too, and I will try it in BG3 as well: a playthrough where I'm actually "me", the real life me.

I will play a male human Tav then and make all decisions from the points of view, the morals, of the person I am in real life.

Should be interesting, I think.

Btw, I will romance Karlach then. Absolutely my type. I mean, she's goddess level woman. ;-)

I think a part of someone is always present in their character. Going all out with it could be interesting in this format, in pnp dnd im generally not a fan of 100% "self-insert" characters, but at the same time im also not a fan of hyperoptimizing and minmaxing, which is something I absolutely plan on doing in this game, since its just me, myself and I and there are no other people at the table that could be bothered by it or have their spotlight taken away.

My personality and decisions aren't fake, even in a fantasy or science fiction setting.

In fact, ever since I was a kid I never understood why men would play games as female characters. People are so loose when role-playing. And these people that want to pretend to be serial killers in a game like this, I don't understand that, either.

There was a Youtuber a few years ago, a really nice guy. He started a playthrough of a game, forgot the name of it, but his intention was to play the game as cruel as he possibly could.

However, when the dialogue options popped up, he could never bring himself to choose the most inhumane options. It wasn't in his nature. So, his playthrough was abandoned.

I was already going to, but then the Dark Urge came out. Now there's a perfect origin that describes my daily struggle so I can adequately tackle both that and the space squids.

Same, I used to be able to play evil characters when I was younger but by my mid teens or so I just couldn't do it. Also the games that I played when I was younger where I was able to play as an evil character never had like super in-depth evil options other than murder, and never really showed anything that awful.

Tbf never liked the idea of "creating myself" in RPGs, be it videogame or tabletop stuff. I play RPGs to be someone else who im not, its a runaway from reality, escapism. Gender. race, species, manner of speech, religion, habits. I never translate them on my character and trying to come up with a new "role" and new actual "character" everytime.
