Paladin/Warlock
If you multiclass Paladin with Warlock and then get Pact of The Blade, can you respec and ditch Str?

Also how many levels in each class for the perfect combo?

I want to make Paladin Oath of The Ancients multiclassed with Warlock Pact of The Blade.

Cheers

I was thinking a lot about that build, and you should be able to ditch strength, yes. I would probably play to around level 5ish, then respec into it if you want to play it.

That way you can have smites and pact of the blade online. Any earlier, and the build is likely going to suck.

Paladin 5/Warlock 7, you get more pact of the blade invocations, more spells and better spell levels

Ancients is 7+ or nothing, spell resist is great.

8 is clean for the asi

We haven’t seen vengeance yet but I’m guessing 2 will be fine.

Devotion the oath is not for me.

You only get 3 Feats/Ability score increases, if you go Pala 5/War 7 you lose out on one. I am not saying that is a no go but you should decide carefully - some of the Feats are amazing and worth more than Invocations and a few more spells.

Yeah but lvl 5 extra attack is worth more then an ASI/Feat. I would argue pally 6 is worth a lot too, so maybe Pally 6 warlock 6

Maybe the paladin levels are not even necessary.
If Eldritch Smite and Thirsting Blade are available as invocations Warlocks already had access to Smite (a better one) and extra attack.

I would prefer to go to other classes (after warlock 5) than paladin like sorcerer (for spells).

pal 5, lock 3 at least - anything else can be chosen based on preferences and depending on what pact invocations we getting, if they are great go more on lock,
I heard they homebrewed pact of the blade a bit and added some crazy stuff in the full release

Also, obligatory “/sorc builds depend greatly on whether booming blade and green fire blade are in or not.”

OP u right 100%

Paladin 8/Warlock 4.

======================
Relentless Avenger
By 7th level, your supernatural focus helps you close off a foe’s retreat. When you hit a creature with an opportunity attack, you can move up to half your speed immediately after the attack and as part of the same reaction. This movement doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks.

Aura of Protection
Starting at 6th level, whenever you or a friendly creature within 10 feet of you must make a saving throw, the creature gains a bonus to the saving throw equal to your Charisma modifier (with a minimum bonus of +1). You must be conscious to grant this bonus.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
=========================

You want those ^^^^

And you need all 3 ASI.
Also, make sure level 1 is Paladin so you can use heavy armor.

Honestly idk if you even need a respec. Go Paladin to 5 for extra attack, then take 3 of warlock. Then go Paladin until total level is 11 (Pala 8), last level warlock.

Edit: nvm you’ll respec when you have lock 3 to ditch Str.

To not delay asi much maybe Pala 5, lock 3, Respec (still 5/3 just drop Str to 10 or 12), then lock 4, then all Pala from there

*cough cough ancients cough*

Aura of Warding
Beginning at 7th level, ancient magic lies so heavily upon you that it forms an eldritch ward. You and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you have resistance to damage from spells.

Ancients is def BiS early due to that aura, but the Oath part is just so rough. Vengeance I suspect will be easier to maintain

I don't think eldritch smite is good because you only get to do it twice per short rest. Sth like armor of agatha might be better for the spell slot. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Either Pally 8/Warlock 4 - 3 feats/ASI and the extra attack
OR Pally 4?Warlock 8 - 3 feats/ASI and Invocation that gives extra attack.

Pally 4/Warlock 8.

If you go Pact of the Blade, you'll get the extra attack at 5th lvl Warlock anyways.

Since they baked in the Pact boon, the benefits of Thirsting blade (the invocation tax that allowed for extra attack) AND the "Use CHA, instead of STR/DEX for melee attacks" from the Hex warrior.

You ABSOLUTLY want those ASI/Feats, so a 4/8 break is better, also more Warlock levels, more invocations and better Pact magic Slots.

Yes you miss on 3rd lvl paladin spell slots and spells, but honestly, 3rd lvl paladin spelll ist is Meh to Mid at best.

And after all you ain't a Spellcaster, you're a Dark Knight that uses his magic to channel his Dark Power through his weapon to Obliterate his enemies.

Vengeance paladin is a must if you wanna Critfish on those Divine Smites...
