Of course you might not need high AC to survive as a caster but it's something to consider.
I am curious what they meant in that italian interview about multiclassing not slowing down spell progression. Multiclassing was already strong and they made it better by removing ability requirements and that other thing about spells which I hope they will clarify or we'll have to see on launch.
I am not sure how this will be in the release version but heavy armor did not have any strength requirement in EA so you can use it even if you have not invested any point into STR.
In early access you could already do a lot of spells on the same turn because there are no restrictions on bonus action and leveled spells but that might get fixed.
That would look so utterly stupid and implausible that it'd proper kill immersion for me.
But, as always in SP games, to each their own.
