Does monk make armor and weapons obsolete?
I kind of like finding cool new items and armor, but i really like how the monk looks. Will monk remove that for me?

Not necessarily. There's plenty of weapons monks can use with their martial arts, and no shortage magical clothing and equipment that isn't armor.

No, because Monks suck.

Hobocop is a funny handle.

Monk still use weapons.
And you still use gloves, boots, helmets, cloaks and robes as monk. So, no, they are not making itemization obsolete.

Yes, if you walk around nude you get a Charisma boost.

Is it better to fight bare handed with a monk?

Ah so i can still use cloaks and such without losing the speed buff?

So in BG3, any weapon you have proficiency in is considered a monk weapon. Using a weapon doesn't prevent your monk from using some open hand strikes. At least early on, a weapon will provide greater damage than open hand.

Remember that weapons can have abilities, other magical effects. and pluses to hit and damage. You're fine using a weapon.

Not until VERY late game (in table top). A monk's unarmed damage starts at 1d4 then increases to 1d6 at 5th level, 1d8 at 11th level, and finally 1d10 at 17th level. So until then level 17, a staff (wielded in both hands) will deal as much or more damage than a punch and has the added benefit of possibly being a magic weapon with +1 or better to hit and damage.

NTM, if humans have proficiency with polearms, a human monk can use a glaive or halberd.

Unless TCoE of XGtE changed something, you can't use a polearm as a Monk weapon.

This is confirmed? If so, that's a considerable change from the tabletop. (Even Dedicated weapon has caveats against heavy/special properties)

If it is confirmed, it would make Monks suck less.
