Ideally, fantasy hairdos should be tied to class, race and culture. Like, no long hair in the Spartan-type army, no alchemists with beards, mandatory wigs for Baldurian bards, that sort of things...
Also Tonsures are totally fantasy, that hairstyle has been in style since the Dark Ages to Late Medieval to Today. Other Fantasy titles like Elder Scrolls, Game of Thrones, and Dark and Darker, Chivalry, and Total War make use of Tonsures.
The Tonsure could fit a variety of classes, like Monks, Paladins, and Clerics. Races that use them could be Humans, Half-elves, Elves.
The Class Background would also make room for a Tonsure with the Outlander, Acolyte, or Urchin Backgrounds.
